The latest issue of Japanese gaming rag, Famitsu, will sport a piece dedicated to the next instalment in the Warriors franchise, the yet-to-be-announced Shin Sangoku Musou 6 Empires.
Known overseas as Dynasty Warriors 7 Empires, this marks the second spin-off under the series’ seventh generation, following last years Dynasty Warriors 7 Xtreme Legends. Details are sparse, though one early reader claims Xu Shu, yet another Wei officer, will be playable.
DW’s Xtreme Legends expansions have always been hit and miss, 2006’s 5XL still being the most memorable. However, the Empires sub-series has come up trumps with every passing generation of the popular hack n’ slash series. Instead of presenting players with story-driven scenarios, Empire is far more expansive and tactical, allowing players to customise their heroes and armies before plunging into campaigns of epic proportions.
It’s likely that DW7E will be a PlayStation 3 exclusive when it launches in Japan later this year. However, when released in US/EU territories, they are usually made available to both PS3 and Xbox 360.

I hope it’s better that DW Empires 6. That games was beyond poor. Every ‘story’ didn’t actually have any story. You just used certain characters to take over China. The story on DW Next has been done properly and in an empires esque fashion so hopefully they stick to this style.
