Here’s June’s European PlayStation Plus Update

Ross McGrath has detailed this month’s PlayStation Plus update for Europe over on the official blog, which is suffering from a slightly silly five posts per page design that – during E3 at least – pushes stuff off the home page after just a matter of hours.

Regardless, here’s what you’re getting, after all the hype and rumours have died down.

  • Game of the month: Virtua Fighter 5: Final Showdown. This’ll be rotated out at the end of the month.
  • Games catalogue: Warhammer 40,000, Chime Super Deluxe, Darksiders, Renegade Ops, Outland, Oddworld Stranger’s Wrath HD. Warhammer and Chime will vanish mid July, Darksiders and Renegade Ops the month after and the last two in September. Each time two games go, another two will appear.
  • Always available: inFamous 2, MotorStorm Apocalypse, LittleBigPlanet 2. These will remain constant over the year.

You’ll have no doubt noticed that Europeans will get ten games as opposed to twelve over in the States. However, because SCEE will cycle the games more often (every 3 months rather than every 4) in effect we’ll actually get more after a year.

That said, some of the games that’ll appear in rotation might well have already been featured in a previous Plus promotion…

Finally, to ease any confusion from this morning – you won’t lose the ability to play a game once it’s been cycled out – as long as you activated the download (and are still a paying Plus subscriber) you’ll be able to re-download and play any such game whenever you wish.

  1. Yeah, all of that.

  2. This is great. im going to get the 90 days.

  3. And tomorrow they have changed again. Seriously Sony, be ready with the details for such announcements and not change them two times within 24 hours.

It’s a nice change, but it went from crazy good (9 games changing after 6 weeks) to reasonable good.

  4. Don’t have any of the 3 main games so I’m sold on this :D

  5. Great deal.
Still wish they had lobbed in even 1 Vita game though.

    • Good idea as it’s really just a PS3 service now. I think they should have a separate subscription for those with both devices or just the Vita so that they can capitalize on the PS+ goodies. Then again the device is new and like all new consoles they lack a great deal of games so giving any away for free is actually a much larger percentage of the market lost than giving one for free on PS3.

      • True.
Odds would be ridiculous that I’d already own whatever Vita content they put up anyway.
Bought too much on launch day, just couldn’t resist.

      • Seperate please, last time i wanted a handheld, was Donkey Kong Jr.
Renewing this Wed:), prior to Store Update, as Virtua Fighter may go this week, as oppose to next weeks’ update..

    • Good point, a Vita title wouldn’t have been too much to ask for would it.

  6. Only have 3 games from the list so I really neeeeed to upgrade my HDD again. Can’t wait to play LBP2 and Infamous 2 :D.

  7. No Just Cause 2? aw :(

    • i wanted Ratchet and Clank all4one but hey least the US gets it -_-

      • Bollocks…. :< that's a game I really want to try. That being free would probably get loads of interest online.

      • My guess is these will appear in the rotation later on.

  8. Well I’m really glad I didn’t sub to PS+ when Sony were hyping it up for a relaunch, these type of free games just aren’t my thing.

  9. So many games so little time

  10. Just Cause 2 was there earlier, date has changed from Wed to Tues & back to Wed again o_O

Liking this deal, but I’d just got into Minis… & now PS2 titles are appearing… Oh well this is awesome though.
