The Skyrim 1.7 patch, which was released for the PC version of The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim last week, is coming to consoles soon. It fixed a number of bugs and, on the 360 it will also smooth the edges off some of the Kinect issues in the game.
The 1.6 patch, which introduced mounted combat and fixed a pile of existing bugs will now be rolled into the 1.7 update for PS3 users who were still waiting for it. Those PS3 owners, incidentally, are also still waiting for news of the Dawnguard expansion that launched on Xbox 360 and PC last month. Hopefully the bug fixes in this 1.7 patch will pave the way for that and we’ll hear more news this week.
Nearly nine months after its release, Bethesda is still ironing out bugs from Skyrim. Hopefully they’re almost finished with the fixes and will be able to dedicate more development time to further expansions.

I really hope this doesn’t happen with the next Fallout game…I just wouldn’t be able to stand that. At least they’re actually fixing the bugs, I guess.
The Lone Steven
If Bugthesda are developing it then it will be Lagout 4. I actually hope they will give Obisdian another shot as they did a fantastic job with NV and managed to do a decent job with the gamebyro engine. Although i really do wish that they will eradicate that engine from the face of the earth due to it’s tendecy to throw a hissy fit at random.
bmg_123
Yeah, I got NV about a week ago on PS3 and so far, around 20 hours in, it’s been fine and relatively bug/lag free. I assume the next Fallout will be bad on PS3, since this new ‘Creation’ engine they use hasn’t exactly proved itself optimum for the PS3 hardware, saying the least :/

Gamebyro – because the pen is mightier than the sword? ;-P
igotmy9milli
Gamebryo is dead.
The Lone Steven
Actually, Creation uses parts of Gamebryo. Most likely the parts that loves to troll gamers by crashing the game at random. Or is it just a modifed version of it? Either way, tis still being used. :S
I would advise disabling the autosave as it actually helps to reduce lag and try to not leave piles of ash or goo everywhere as it causes the file to build up thus increasing the likelyhood of lag or even worse a crash.
I think the Dragon is mightier then both the sword and the pen. But it is not mightier then a naked Dovahkiin charging at it with a battleaxe.
The Lone Steven
For some reason, the NA gets the patch tomorrow whilst we have to wait untill next week. I suspect we won’t see Dawnguard untill Hearthfire is out as it seems that Bethesda is busy working on that whilst doing a half arsed attempt on the PS3 version of Dawnguard.
At least, Skyrim is not as buggy as F3. I had to use Fast travel to avoid phasing through the ground!
bmg_123
What?! That sucks. I remember when the last patch for F3 came out and it actually slowed the game down to a crawl, caused the sound to barely work and it crashed more than ever!
The Lone Steven
They didn’t even bother patching F3 as most of the patches were fecking trophy patches! Plus, the fecking game crashed when i had got the last ingot in the Pitt DLC and corrupted my save. Haven’t touched it since and that was roughly 2-3 years ago.

Still waiting to play this…
MadBoJangles
Been playing it (somewhat obsessively) for the last week or so.
Up to level 51, hardly touched the main quests and now that I am of hours into it, I got my first few system freezes last night.
I was under the impression that they had fixed this??
Anyhow, lets wait and see how the patch works, hopefully it won’t feck anything up as it’s a truly amazing game.

Insert the word “lots” where appropriate.

Started playing Skyrim again on PC last night. After spending an hour downloading new mods and updating older ones, when I finally got into it… well, let’s just say I was late for work this morning.
Woops.

With Skyrim being such a large game it would be quite difficult to find -all- the bugs before release but the fact there are still fixing fairly major bugs at this stage is very annoying. The same bug that stopped me progressing in the story in November was still present a few days ago. Having to edit my .ini file is something I shouldn’t be doing. Being an amazing game doesn’t excuse the fact that there are so many bugs in this game. It really annoys does annoy me. Perhaps if their QA department spent less time trying to do speed runs and more time fixing the game…

I just think back to the days when we were controlling little pixelated squares around with no in game speech and no impressive visuals, then I look up at the sky and the mountains on skyrim and a whole world in motion around me and think
Can I really sit here and moan….
John Malcolm
‘Can I really sit here and moan…”?
Well, yes you actually can. Simply because you (and me) have paid good money for these games, and to be sucked into a game and then have it kick you in the nuts due to some unsorted-out major bug is, to put it mildly, frustrating.
This comes from someone who spent nearly 190 hours wandering around in Skyrim on the PS3 – and got my Plat – and also spent far too many hours on Fallout 3 and NV. I thoroughly enjoyed the games – apart form the bugs; who enjoys them?! – and will probably buy another game from Bethesda, despite the pitfalls, as when they work there is notrhing to touch them.
fs
Don’t get me wrong I totally agree that if you buy something you expect it to atleast work.. However, I don’t know about everybody else, but generally I experienced a few glitches maybe every couple of hours.. like a man runs into a wall or I get stuck in rocks.. It’s nothing that I couldn’t deal with, and certainly didn’t de-merge me from the games story.
blackredyellow
There’s so many other games that interest me at the moment, so I will patiently bide my time until Dawnguard comes out. But when it does, Skyrim won’t be leaving my disc tray for a while!
Sympozium
We know Skyrim is buggy and that previous Beth games (Obsidan) games are terrible on PS3 so why bother buying there next game on day one? I certainly wouldn’t I’d just wait till its cheap or something.
RudeAwakening
Im finished with skyrim now going to trade it in for maybe sleeping dogs.

How do i download the 1.7 on play station for skyrim
Forrest_01
I take it that you are new to this game! :D
Anyway, 1.7 is not out yet – Don’t know if it has even been formally announced yet, but it’s rumoured to be next week.
When it is released, you need do nothing more than put the game in – The game will begin to boot & as long as you are connected online, you will get a prompt to download the patch.
The only exception to this would be if you are a member of PS+ & have automatic updates on, as i believe this should automatically download the patch for you at the allocated time (provided it is in your last 10 games played i think).
