The recent love-in between Sony and its large (and growing) stable of independent developer partners looks set to continue. The PS Blog has just announced a new round of sales, this time focussed on independently developed games, starting tomorrow.
[drop2]The first of the bi-weekly sales will see a trio of platformers discounted. Pid, Topatoi and Zack Zero will all be available from Wednesday 5th June at discounted rates.Pid is down from €9.99/£7.99 to just €5.99/£4.79 and will also have a further 30 per cent lopped off if you’re a PlayStation Plus subscriber. Topatoi is cut from €9.99/£7.99 down to €3.99/£3.19 with a further 10 per cent for PS Plussers. Zack Zero is down to just €2.99/£2.39 from €9.99/£7.99, with another 25 per cent off if you subscribe to Plus.
The special offers will all run for a duration of two weeks before being replaced with new offers on indie games.

Are any worth having?

I really didn’t like Topatoi very much but some thought it was okay. Haven’t played the other two myself.
At those prices, they’re around the impulse-buy point though, aren’t they?

If you’re a seasoned gamer and enjoy more than just the juggernaut-sized franchises, Sony’s current attitude to gaming is beyond exemplary.
Top news, Peter. Hope this strategy of theirs continues for a long time to come.

Agreed. At end of the day the store is just a portal. It should be open to everyone to get on there but for some simple rules:-
1) Your content should not do anything that would put system in jeopardy ie allow piracy
2) Should work without a problem ie crash
3) Only be sold in regions were promitted to so by law

I think the indie love will work so well for PlayStation in the future. Not sure if any of these appeal to me, but I’m looking forward to seeing what else goes in the sale.

Same here. It’s more about the attitude towards the games and the consumer. Then, the reciprocation from us back towards said games as well as Sony itself.

See, now i was going to treat myself to a copy of Guacamelee for my birthday, but now i am not sure whether its best just to hold off – I mentioned it the other day & it was pointed out that it is still rather a new game, but it is definitely in the indie section, so now i’m just not sure!
Is there any way we could find out whats planned to be dropped? Probably not, but hey, it doesn’t hurt to ask! :)
Peter Chapman
haha, they’re not likely to advertise what’s coming, no. (Guacamelee is getting DLC soon though!)
Check your forum PMs in 5 minutes for a birthday treat.

Isn’t “bi-weekly” twice a week?
Don’t you mean “fortnightly”?
:P

That’s what I was thinking, surely guy on the blog means bi-monthly.
