Could Assassin’s Creed IV And Watch Dogs Share The Same Universe?

The interview above, from a chat with Assassin’s Creed IV director Ashraf Ismail at E3 last week, alludes to some clever cross-game interaction between two of Ubisoft’s biggest games.

Ismail was asked whether Watch Dogs and Assassin’s Creed IV share the same universe [via]. “Very good question… uhh… I don’t want to ruin the surprise for people,” replied Ismail.

“I don’t want to give anything away. I will say, for the people who love both games, for the people who will play both games: there are some Easter eggs that will be a bit hard to find, but when you find them, it will blow your mind.”

It doesn’t explicitly say that the two games are intrinsically linked, but it does sound like there’s likely to be a few ties between both titles. Interesting.

  1. Wow, that had never even crossed my mind. There’s loads of possibilities there, you could discover that a passerby is a Templar or that the whole game is another assassins creed.

  2. Possibly the ability to enter the Abstergo tower and roam around the room Desmond was held in?

  3. Far Cry 3 had some Abstergo stuff too!

  4. Sounds like it will be the kind of link up between Half Life and Portal. A few little spots of cross franchise fan service.

  5. The Assassins Creed games has always been full of Easter eggs, like the assassin turkey in AC3 etc, and FC3 has some abstergo nods too, so it’s hardly surprising that there will be more things in Watch Dogs.

  6. Would be cool if they were in the same universe but Watch Dogs not following the Assassin’s story like they’re fighting over there but the game is set over here. Maybe a police report about someone in a white hood assassinating someone. It would be cool if Pierce new about either or both the parties but had no interest in them.

    • Would also be a good way to rumour AC5 (the next REAL AC title)

  7. I hope not, the AssCreed franchise has been beaten to death imo, and I’d hate to see something as interesting as Watch Dogs associated with it.
