Sony Partners With 21 Studios To Deliver Exclusive Content

This past weekend, US retail giant Gamestop held its own expo in Las Vegas. During a stage presentation, Sony’s Sean Coleman unveiled a list of third party studios currently working on exclusive PlayStation content.

There are twenty one names in total, ranging from heavy hitters such as Rockstar and Ubisoft, to smaller studios including Zindagi and Sanzaru Games.

Gematsu has drawn up a handy list, citing all of the studios mentioned and what exclusive content that have announced:

  • Activision Blizzard – Diablo III content
  • Atlus
  • Bethesda Games – The Elder Scrolls Online exclusive PlayStation 4 beta
  • Bluepoint Games – “Bringing a Sony classic to current game systems”
  • Bungie – Destiny content
  • Capcom – Deep Down
  • Disney Interactive
  • EA
  • Insomniac Games
  • Konami
  • Level-5
  • Nordic Games
  • Rockstar Games
  • Sanzaru Games
  • Sega
  • Square Enix
  • Sumo Digital
  • Take-Two
  • Ubisoft – Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag content, Watch Dogs content
  • Warner Bros. – Batman: Arkham Origins content
  • Zindagi Games

We’ll no doubt hear about what the other publishers and developers have in store, though the list above definitely helps to narrow speculation.

Zindagi Games, for instance, has previous worked on three PlayStation Move titles, including the Sports Champions series. If Sony is signing them for PlayStation content, it could be a kickstart for the PS4’s motion gaming sector or perhaps a follow up to Sports Champions 2.

The previously-mentioned Sanzaru Games in another select choice. The studio may only have two games under its belt, yet has delivered on both occasions with both The Sly Trilogy and Thieves In Time paying perfect homage to Sucker Punch’s acclaimed series. Whether or not they’re working on Sly 5 or a totally new IP, it’s good to know the studio hasn’t been closed after months of radio silence.

  1. Go Sony!

  2. Diablo 3. Nice! Though it’ll be a piece of armour or something.
I kinda wish these exclusivity deals would go away, bit annoying ms have exclusivity to legends in ultimate team. Hopefully that’ll be timed and it’ll come to ps4 after not too long as I’ve been saying for ages it would be a good addition to ut.

    • It’s heavily rumoured to be a timed exclusive – similar to Titanfall.

It only makes sense for them to be timed too as PlayStation has a HUGE following, and it’d be easy cash to miss out on.

  3. For those who watch Kyle Bosman on Gametrailers: “Exclusive. Hack. Boost”

    • Hahaha! Saw the latest episode of Final Bosman. The man truly detests the words “Exclusive” and “Content”

  4. Agent.

  5. Deep Down is Playstation exclusive? Or content just for it?

Wording see’s the game itself is exclusive but then again Dead Rising 3 is Xbone exclusive.

  6. Even more good news from the Sony camp.

  7. I’m really glad to see Sanzaru confirmed as still working with Sony – hopefully this means we will see Sly 5 at some point!

  8. The Square Enix thing will probably be FFXIV for the PS4. They already said it would stay console exclusive to Sony’s devices.

  9. “EXCLUSIVE CONTENT” such a buzz phrase at the moment for what usually amounts to very little. I’m thinking of you Assassins Creed series. Its like they think an hour of gameplay here or a character skin there is going to convince me to buy a certain game etc. These kind of offers are clearly aimed at the hardcore market (because mainstream gamers don’t even notice this kind of s**t), and the hardcore don’t care about avatars or faster hacks in Watch Dogs. FFS wake up Sony and stop wasting money on this!!

    • This exclusive content, that people are quick to loathe (me included), must be a shameless and relatively cheap way to win over those gamers on the fence about which platform to buy it for. Let’s be honest, people were won over with go-faster-stripes on cars, so I now understand how utterly disgraceful we are as a consumerist nation. :-)

  10. This is why I’m buying a PS4. Sony are pushing the diversity of the gaming library better than ever. The PS3 showed them how digital delivery could lend itself to stunning games which are only a tenner (or thereabouts). With that in mind, they’ve pushed for studios of any size to create unique content for the platform.

Ignoring quinkill’s comment (which is exceedingly relevant as it bugs the shit out of me too), hopefully, Sony can continue to provide the next-gen equivalents of Flower, Rain, Journey, PixelJunk Monsters/Shooter/etc., and so many more.
