ARK: Survival Evolved, A VR Game With Dinosaur Riding Is Coming To PS4

ARK: Survival Evolved features a fully persistent game world, tens of thousands of AI entities, totally destructible foliage and environment, and multiplayer on a huge scale.

It also has dinosaurs.

Which you can ride.

In VR.

Now you are all back from frantically whacking the pre-order button I can tell you that the team are aiming for 60 distinct species, each with it’s own living ecosystems, predator hierarchies, and an autonomy that exists outside of the players’ influences.

“Not much compares to soaring over the jungles and mountains of ARK’s islands on the back of your very own pteranodon,” say Studio Wildcard, and you have to admit it’s going to be a brand new experience for most of us.

The game is also coming to Xbox One (without the VR) and PC.

  1. I take it this will use Project Morpheus? Depending on the price of the helmet, I may well give this a go. My only worry is getting carried away and running into walls.

    • lol this is what scares me about VR. Hopefully it comes with a safety lead or a tether to stop you wondering off on an actual adventure, into a road.

      • Yep, this could get dangerous. Especially when the bluetooth signal cuts out… “This looks great… Super realistic… Like that car’s really gonna hit me!” – BANG!!!
        Driver – “Holy sh*t! I think I just hit a Storm Trooper.”

  2. Yes.

  3. While it all looks very nice and you can ride dinosaurs, they’re saying it’s designed with “VR in mind from the beginning” and VR is “recommended”.

Which presumably means “it’s shit without it”.

So, unless you want to spend lots of money looking like some sort of tosser from the future, I think it might be best to ignore this. Which is a shame, because, well, just because “dinosaur riding”.

  4. Holy f***! Where did this come from! Sony and Wildcard can take my money *throws euros at screen*
