Blizzard’s new shooty game, Overwatch, has been confirmed for Xbox One and PlayStation 4. A holding page over on Battle.net has an image of the “Origins Edition” of the game for consoles and PC, and lists a pre-order bonus.

The image lists the release date of being on or before June 21st, 2016. We had an idea the game would be coming to consoles when the code for the official web site was mined and the text “Overwatch is Blizzard’s team-shooter for PC and consoles” was found.
We’re expecting an official announcement this weekend from Blizzcon.

What? June 21st counts as spring now does it? Longest day of the year, I’d say that counts as right in the middle of summer. Not spring.
Although my theory is that summer starts at the end of March when the clocks go forward, and that autumn is a myth. So what do I know?

Sorry, a little something was lost in translation there. From legalese to English, that is.
In the UK and Europe, partly because of the weather we get, we tend to consider June the start of summer, but some parts of the world and corners of the scientific world define a season as existing between a solstice and an equinox, so spring would last from March 20th to June 20th next year. The wording of the “on or before” suggests that they’re talking in terms of the fiscal year, though, with Q2’s “spring” covering April-June. So it feels like there’s an element of hedging their bets here for investors to see.
And now you know. :)

I’d hedge my bets and guess it’ll piss down from March to October in the UK during any given year. Why on earth do we still use that daylight saving clocks back ~ clocks forward an hour, which was supposed to have been an aid to the shepherds during the twighlight darkness, but all sheep are grown at the laboratoire garnier these days under strobe light aren’t they? :P

that’s cool and all, though i probably won’t end up playing it, not a big fan of these competitive FPSs, and not just because i suck at them, though mostly that. ^_^.
what i’m really excited for from Blizzcon, is the full Warcraft movie trailer.

surely you mean “NEXT JUNE”
unless you have a time machine this June has been and gone!
MrYd
The June earlier this year? That was last June, surely? In the same way if I referred to “this Saturday”, I’d mean tomorrow, wouldn’t I? That’d be a silly way to refer to last Saturday. (I wouldn’t refer to tomorrow as “next Saturday” either, since that might just be confusing and mean the Saturday in 8 days time)
But while you can argue that June 2015 was “last June”, calling June 2016 “this June” definitely sounds weird.
JR.
“This” Saturday would still be within the current week so you wouldn’t say “Next” Saturday unless you were referring to the following week. If you think of it in those terms then “Next” June would be correct here as it’s next Year. “This” June would only make sense pre-31st May in the current year. As June has already been and gone this year, you would say “Last” June. As you would say “This” November/December but “Last” January-October in the current year.

There’s a silent “coming”.
Hope the title’s clearer now though.

What? I always get told I make a lot of noise when doing that. The neighbours complain.
