The Live Events App Will Be Retired On January 10th

Sony has confirmed that the Live Events App will be retired on January 10th, with live event videos instead being available to purchase directly from the PS store on PS4. The app was never officially released outside of the US so those in outside of the States won’t lose anything. Sony did confirm that from the same day that the PS3 will no longer be receiving Live Events at all, which signals the company slowly cutting off support for the console as it enters its twilight years.

The full content of the email sent by Sony can be read below.

As a valued customer of Live Events Viewer we wanted you to know that starting January 10th you’ll be able to purchase the latest and greatest Live Events, directly from PlayStation®Store on PS4â„¢!

On January 10th, the Live Events Viewer app will be retired, but you can continue to purchase and view events until that date. Please note that unfortunately Live Events will no longer be available on PS3â„¢.

From January 10th, be sure to visit PlayStation® Store on PS4™ for a new and improved Live Events experience.

Visit “My Videos” in PlayStation®Store to watch your purchased events.

Thank you for your loyalty,
PlayStation® Live Events Team

The app released on the PS4 in August 2014 with the first major event streamed being UFC 177 where TJ Dillashaw defeated Joe Soto to retain in the bantamweight title.
