Final Fantasy XIV Could Come To Nintendo Switch

Final Fantasy XIV producer Naoki Yoshida took the chance at the ongoing Fan Festival in Frankfurt to discuss the possibility of bringing the MMORPG to Nintendo’s upcoming Switch.

The development team’s key aim is to bring the game to as many platforms as possible, with the main limitation that they absolutely don’t want to create a boxed off version of the game that can’t interact with the others. If that could be overcome then they’d be very interested in discussing a Switch port.

While Nintendo’s online vision for the Switch is still unclear, the idea that a game like Final Fantasy XIV could come to the handheld/home console hybrid would be a dream come true for fans.

A limited number of developers have been able to come to agreement over cross-platform play in the past, and perhaps as a triumvirate of  Japanese companies it’s not completely outside the realms of possibility.

  1. Considering square and the big N’s history, that would be a hell of a coup.

  2. Going to be that guy and mention the crap battery life being a major issue for an MMO. Also, Nintendo doesn’t do online well. I wonder how they will handle it along with getting it up to par with the other version? I.E,all content that’s available is added to it. Otherwise, it may be lagging behind and Square could get fed up quickly.
