UPDATE: It’s a hoax. “This is not a real product – we’re sorry for any confusion” said Target  Original story continues below.
Game Of Thrones series 7 finale is airing later tonight, and after that fans will have to wait a while for season 8 to drop. However it appears that there may be something that could fill the time, and it may be courtesy of Bethesda. That something, as listed on retailer Target’s site, is a Game Of Thrones game by the studio behind titles like Skyrim.
It isn’t the first time the popular series has been adapted to games. There was the Game Of Thrones game by Cyanide on last gen consoles, the Telltale game, and a very popular mod based on Westeros in Crusader Kings II. It may be that Bethesda are gearing up to reveal soon to coincide with the season finale, and with the company’s recent run on games being announced and released a few months later we could see this land sooner rather than later.

Not a big fan of Bethesda’s open world games but this could be really cool, especially if they use something like the Doom engine instead of the old-aged Gambryo.

That wouldn’t be possible. Id Software and Bethesda Game Studios are two different developers. It is likely the Doom engine is not easy to modify and Bethesda prefers to use their own engine.

Bethesda open world games are awful, never been able to get into them despite starting most of them multliple times.
I would be excited if the licence was in the hands of cd projekt red.

It seems to be false. I am really hoping Bethesda is not doing this as well, AGOT is known for it’s plot, it’s smut, smut, incestal smut, smut, and deaths. I am joking but it is plot heavy and Bethesda doesn’t do plots well. That and the nature of TES won’t translate well to AGOT. One overpowered dude can end everything. If you think the Mountain is overpowered, a TES PC could smite everything.
Hopefully, tis a rumour and remains as such.

Don’t think this would be a good choice. Personally think that Obsidian could really nail the story and politics of the material. Gameplay would be better in the hands of From software or Deck 13. That style of gameplay would really nail the visceral swordfighting from the series imo.

Thank god for that. I love Skyrim, it’s one of my favourite open world RPGs but the plot is average and pacing issues plague it. AGOT needs something like Bioware or Obsidian to handle it. I would say Kojima but by the time it was finished, The Winds of Winter would be out, it would be even more complex, filled with even more tits, twists and would make Metal Gear Solid seem like Super mario.

Could be worse I suppose… BioWare could be making it.
