America Hates PS3

Whilst it’s no secret that the PS3 is selling great across Europe (and doing ‘OK’ in Japan) in the States gamers still prefer the 360. December’s NPD results are in and whilst the Wii is still outselling both next-gen consoles the gap seems to be lessening a little between the three. We’re not sure what Sony needs to do to boost sales over the pond (apart from drop the price further) but figures across the whole PlayStation brand are encouraging enough, with PS2 at 1.1 million and PSP at just over 1 million.

PlayStation 2: 1.1 million (3.97 million year total)
PlayStation 3: 797.6 K (2.56 million year total)
PlayStation Portable: 1.06 million (3.82 million year total)
Xbox 360: 1.26 million (4.62 million year total)
Wii: 1.35 million (6.29 million year total)
Nintendo DS: 2.47 million (8.50 million year total)
