TSA and E3 2009

E3 is when lots of journalists (and non journalists) get to play the latest games and, for the first time in a while, stare at models who have no idea what the game is they’re ‘promoting’.  Whilst I have a fondness for Los Angeles personally, we thought the efforts (and cash) of our core team this year would be better spent at Cologne in August rather than the US-centric E3 Expo.  For us, the last couple of E3 events have been lacklustre for Sony, whereas their presence in Europe has been considerably stronger, so TSA as you know it is off to Germany rather than California.

This, however, does not mean that we won’t be covering E3, because of course we will – the six major events (listed below, in UK time) will all pass under the watchful gaze of TheSixthAxis and luckily we do have a (non-TSA) chap in situ over the pond all ready and waiting for the starter gun. We’ll reveal how you can watch the conferences unfold live a little nearer the time (you might want to make sure Home is updated before the 2nd, just in case) but where possible we’ll be running our highly acclaimed (and terribly buggy) live blogs of any attended sessions.

  • Microsoft: Monday, June 1st, 6:30pm
  • EA: Monday, June 1st, 10:00pm
  • Ubisoft: Tuesday, June 2nd, 1:00am
  • Nintendo: Tuesday, June 2nd, 5:00pm
  • Sony: Tuesday, June 2nd, 7:00pm
  • Konami: Wednesday, June 3rd, 11:00pm

We’ve got a few tweaks to do to the homepage in order for your E3 news to be delivered as smoothly as possible, but there’s plenty of time for that – in the meantime rest assured that we’re on the case and although we actively encourage our readers to keep an eye on the rest of the internet, especially during busy periods like E3, we’ll be running a dedicated news and rumour feed and naturally, we’ll have access to all the press kits, releases and news as our publisher friends have promised a speedy service so we can get you the goodies as they appear.

So, whether E3 is another damp squib or it ends up being the most explosive conference yet, we’ll be on the ball.
