According to Reuters, Square Enix have just confirmed rumours circulating this morning that Final Fantasy XIII will launch, in Japan, on December 17th, for 9,240 yen ($100). This is obviously referring to the PS3 version, which is exclusive in Japan. Other territories should hopefully see the localised game in Spring next year on both PS3 and Xbox 360.
The world-famous Final Fantasy RPG series has sold more than 85 million units since it was first launched in 1987, and Sony are banking on this being a bit hit for the PS3. Reuters say that before the announcement shares in Square Enix closed down 0.8 percent at 2,465 yen and Sony dipped 0.4 percent to 2,480 yen, underperforming the benchmark Nikkei average which rose 0.7 percent.
