Activision Hiring For New Gun, Bond?

A job posting on Gamasutra is asking for applicants to work on “successful Activision owned IP”. The project is as-yet-unannounced and seems to be a shooter. We’ve thrown some ideas about TSA Towers to try to think what it might be and the upshot is this: We don’t really know. That’s no fun though is it so here’s some wild speculation for you all to take with a pinch  (or a handful) of salt…

Activision have published Doom and Quake titles but the IP of those is owned by id software (we think) which was just bought out by Bethesda parent company, ZeniMax Media. So those are extremely unlikely. Activision also list FEAR among their titles (I thought that was Warner Brothers but I could be wrong) but it might be a bit soon for another sequel in that franchise. Slightly more likely is another Bond game.

Activision published Quantum of Solace and it’s a reasonable period of time since that was released. Other possibilities are Fracture and Timeshift but I personally think that calling those “successful Activision owned IP” is stretching it a bit.

In my opinion it is most likely to another installment in the GUN range. With Call of Juarez: Bound in Blood doing well and Red Dead Redemption on the way Activision might just fancy jumping back into the genre themselves. Of course, it might not be a First Person Shooter at all, it might be another 50-Cent game. Blood on the Sand sold really well and we know how much Activision like their bankable franchises…
