A day after its launch, as reported on TSA, Halo 3: ODST was estimated to have out-sold Killzone 2 in a single day. The figures for the game have now been revealed. In the two weeks since the latest Halo addition’s release it has racked up a truly amazing total of, approximately, 2.5 Million units.
This now gives the Halo series a grand total of 27 Million Units sold and ODST alone has generated Microsoft and Bungie $125 Million. But the Halo universe will not stop there. Already scheduled for a release some time next year is Halo: Reach, a FPS set before Halo 1. Co-Writer of Halo 3, Frank O’Connor explained it as:
…a chronological prequel but it is not a prequel in the directions the Star Wars prequels were to the (original) movies…It will cover events in and around the planet Reach
This along with copious amounts of new merchandise including books, comics, films and action figures, will certainly cement Halo’s position of one of the most successful game franchises in history.
