Discussing upcoming Left 4 Dead 2 DLC “The Passing” with Edge, Valve’s Chet Faliszek intimated once again that the award-winning developer will support the PS3 – when the time is right.
“Before we do anything on the PS3 we need to be able to support it in the right way.
“But we’ll look at it, and I’m sure down the road we’ll do it.”
It’s not the first time Valve have commented on their lack of PS3 support and the possibility of embracing Sony’s console in the future. Previous comments on the topic suggested that Valve are open to working on the platform, but only when they had the talent in-house to do so.
Of course, they also did once suggest that the PS3 is essentially “a waste of everyone’s time.” That was of course before the recent surge in PS3 sales and the bombardment of stellar PS3-exclusive games such as Uncharted 2 and upcoming crowd-pleasers such as God of War III and Gran Turismo 5; titles that showcase that the PS3 is far from the weaker of this generation’s current consoles.
