Blacklight: Tango Down Announced.

Right, hands up who likes FPS? Alright, now raise your hands if you like Zombies? Excellent. Here’s some news for you guys.

Zombie Studios (not actual zombies – as far as we can tell) have announced that they are working on a brand new FPS which will be downloadable across all platforms. Well, it’s not on WiiWare so all proper platforms then…

Blacklight: Tango Down (also great for those of us who love colons in our game titles) is a “fully featured Unreal Engine 3.0-powered game” if the press release is to be believed. That means it will probably look pretty good and have quite shiny textures. Set in the near future, the game puts you in with a spec-ops military group called Blacklight. You will be fighting against an infected mass of humans who have contracted a weaponised virus which robs them of their ability to utilise tools but makes them far more aggressive. Sounds a bit like  the “I am Legend” movie to me but with the added bonus that you’ll get to shoot anything that twitches.

The near future setting has allowed the developers to present us with familiar landscapes but add just enough industrial and technological over-development that the familiar will have an unknown edge to it. The press release points out the hope that areas will have a surprising and unsettling feel to them.

It all sounds very interesting and the screens are looking alright too, for a downloadable. The game is set for release this Summer.
