We recently added to our great team and we thought you should get to know at least one of them. Step-up Joe, our new Sub-Editor and pancake tosser. He may look like a ruffian in that picture but he’s actually really nice. Honest. It has nothing to do with both of us being Scottish.
Name: Joe Anderson
Age: 34
Birthplace: Glasgow
Living now: Brighton
Gamerscore/Trophy Level: 21857 / 9
Q: It seems the only thing your body has the ability to do is type but this can’t be the case. What do you do to unwind?
A: There is no chance of unwinding in my house, I have three kids. I do like to go out for a walk though, oh and spend money that I don’t have.
Q: Wotta nickname you’ve got on here. It is quite obscure. Does this name carry across into real life or are you simply ‘Joe’?
A: I am simply Joe really. Wotta was actually the name of my HalfElf thief character from my AD&D days, his full name was WottaLottaMoney.
Q: Just to prove you are actually human, what’s the most embarrassing moment of your life?
A: I probably have one every other day so it’s hard to pick one. If I had to though it would have to be when I was getting married. I was walking through the park in Brighton on my way to be wed and I was fully kilted up in my Scottish attire. Before I knew it I was stopped by about ten Japanese tourists, who proceeded to take lots of photos of me. I have no idea if they thought I was there to entertain them or not and I hate to think where the pictures ended up. Luckily I never lifted my kilt.
Q: Does your family enjoy gaming and, maybe more importantly, can they beat you at anything?
A: My Son is addicted and I am sure my little girl and baby will get there. My oldest can’t quite beat me at FIFA yet, but he is very good at Toy Soldiers, in fact I haven’t beat him at all yet.
Q: What started your passion for games?
A: Programming games on an Amstrad 464, that and my Atari ST.
Q: And what game will always sit highest on your metaphorical pedestal?
A: FIFA has always been a big favourite of mine as I am a bit of a football nut really (I’m a Glasgow Rangers fan). Other than that I am really into my RPG’s so Oblivion would also be up there.
Q: Apart from being an excellent pancake tosser, what’s your day job?
A: I’m not really working at the moment, I have worked in insurance for eight years, worked for Royal Mail and also done lots of other obscure things, however what I really want to do is write about games and therefore I am persuing this through both TheSixthAxis and some freelance work.
Q: Lastly, anything you’d like to say to our amazing readers?
A: I would just like to thank everyone for welcoming me to the site. Writing is all I want to do and the feedback and welcome I have had has been really appreciated. Leaving Wonderwallweb.com was very difficult for me, however I have enjoyed myself so much here that I don’t regret it for a minute.
Now you have two reasons to dislike Joe: he supports Rangers and used to deliver your mail late. All this does lead to a great writer though so it isn’t all bad. We love having Joe onboard here and we hope you all do too. Maybe we’ll see a picture of him in his kilt if you ask nicely.
