New DLC for cult-classic-in-waiting Nier, the World of Recycled Vessel, will essentially convert the Western version of the game into its Eastern counterpart.
Nier enjoys a special, somewhat convoluted position in its homeland of Japan. NieR: Replicant, which is exclusive to the PS3 there, is the core Nier game with a more effeminate protagonist, chosen for Japan’s fixation with androgyny and characters graced with eyes the size of pub-food platters. NieR: Gestalt, exclusive to the Xbox360 in the region and what we got here in the barbaric West, is the exact same game with a more gruff, masculine and nipple-less main character. The new content, which includes fifteen new stages, costume changes and new Shades, also allows Western Nierophiles the chance to convert the aforementioned Gestalt brute into his Japan-only androgyne.
The World of Recycled Vessel is available from today and costs €6.99/£5.49. Considering the amount of side-quests featured in the game that are complete rehashes of earlier tasks, the naming of the new content is presumably quite apt.
