Kinect Gameplay Video

Despite calls for a media blackout, video of Microsoft’s Kinect event over at E3 are starting to appear online. Destructoid have posted up a snippet of what was on display at the elephant-infested media show, footage of which we’ve embedded here for you to dissect/ridicule/gush over.

You’ll see Cirque de Soleil, River Rafting, an elephant with a flashing arse (seriously) and, most importantly, some Star Wars lightsaber action right at the end.

Oh, and you’ll get to see the ponchos, too. Words fail me.

  1. Dear people, Microsoft’s E3 presentation hasn’t happened yet.

This was a Cirque du Soleil show in which it was named and some game vids were shown off, and the performers errrm performed on stage.

Expect the meat & bones later

    Yours, cc_star.

    • Huh I said almost exactly the same thing a minute later. Damn your slightly faster typing.

  2. You have to remember that while press got a preview, footage isn’t meant to air until after Microsoft’s main press event. Given that I think the stuff we see here is supposed to complement what Microsoft show today I think it may work a lot better, fleshing out on some of the stuff that Kinect has. Out of context I think it’s probably more underwhelming than once we’ve seen what Microsoft do tonight.

  3. What is that saying about “an elephant in the room”? I’ve got a feeling that MS ARE going to pull something out of the bag with Kinect. The ingame running thing could be good.

  4. Who would pay £145 for that? Honestly who?

    • Bill himself perhaps?

    • Who said it’s be £145?

    • If I owned a 360, and it was priced cheaper than a Wii, why would you buy a Wii?

However if you don’t own a 360 its going to have to be better priced than is currently being rumoured to enable me to buy a 360 AND one of these things

      • Because the Wii has better games than this. Simple.

      • You’ve seen about 3 games at a naming show and you think you’ve seen all there is on offer?

      • Tell me MS sorted out the colour situation. It had trouble recognising black folk, etc. I’m guessing it was addressed quickly after they spotted the trouble.

      • You asked why someone would buy a Wii over this. I gave a perfectly legitimate answer. Is anyone expecting this to have better games than Mario Galaxy? Not that I know of. Therefore the Wii is still a better option.

      • @ bunimomike

MS have fixed the problem where the camera cannot differentiate between different coloured clothing by making everyone not using Kinect wear white ponchos with flashing shoulder pads.

      • Good question that! Maybe M$ will make this mess work out for them, i.e. go head to head with the Wii and not Sony’s Move.

  5. cant see the vid here.

  6. Btw, I’m happy you guys posted a non-youtube movie. I can’t see youtube movies at work.

  7. The Germans have a word for this: “Mogelpackung”

    • The Irish also have a word for this: “Bollocks.”

      • hey, the English have the same word!!

  8. Novelty much?

  9. Isn’t the point here being people have already bought a Wii?,without that proving a green light for sales none of these motion device ‘controllers’ would’ve seen the light of day imo.
End of the day safe sells which will mean bucket loads of waggley games with casual written on the box no matter what system.
As for Moleneux, syndicate 3 or gtfo tbh.

  10. For the second year in a row, it’s fake. Great going MS.
