PlayStation Move Dated

PlayStation Move has been dated. If you’re in Europe it’s September 15th, it’s a little later on the 19th in the US and in October in Japan.

Price wise, it’s $49.99 for the Move controller, and the navigation controller will be $29.99.  Hardware bundles will be available, and we’ll chase Euro pricing as soon as we can.

A number of new Move compatible games were mentioned, including a new Time Crisis game.

  1. okay i dont know if its just me, but i find the whole, be in the game thing a bit boring, in my opinion, i would prefer to just sit down with a controller, in both hands, on my sofa, without having to get up and move about, thats what the wii is for. Same goes with kinect, i find that pointless, and the price that seems like it is going to be extremely expensive, jsut doesnt warrant what it is. The 3-d thing too, id rather just HD, instead of sitting with glasses on, and who can fork out that much money for a 3D ready tv?

  2. So some popular permutations are:

Bundle (Cam, Move & demo disc) €59.99 (prob £50)
    1 Move $50/€40(prob £35)
    1 Move + 1 Sub €69.98 (Prob £55-£60)

Now loads of games make use of 2 Move controllers, so:
    2 Moves $100/€80 (prob £70)

And then if you want to use it as a DS3 alternative you’re going to want add on the Sub Controller, so:
    2 Moves + 1 Sub $130/€130! (prob £95)
    1 Bundle (cam, move & demo) + 1 extra Move + 1 sub €130 (prob £95-£99)

Obviously the whole point of motion controllers is local multiplayer gaming, if you’re not gonna do local multiplayer you’re probably going to miss out on half the fun of the system, so:
    4 Moves + 2 Subs €220 (prob £190)
    1 bundle (cam+Move+demo) + 3 extra Moves + 2 Subs €240 (prob £200)

Which ever way you add it up, it works out very expensive indeed. Obviously their will be retailer discounting to take off from these.

There is also a charging station for €29.99 not a must buy, but pretty bloody handy and awkward if you don’t… and importantly if you want to use it as a successful gun for games like Time Crises then there is a gun attachment (yes, an official Sony one) for €14.99 each.

If I was faced with forking out up to £200 stuff I need to get the best out the control system, I think the Wii (plus extra Wiimote + 2 nunchucks) would be a great alternative

  3. Fair pricing, same price as normal controllers, so this is good news

  4. may be worth it if the games are decent.

  5. I may be tempted by this. It’ll be interesting to see what launch game bundle offers are available on its release.

  6. Predominantly a 360 guy but also a PS3 owner, despite looking forward to Kinect and probably a day 1 buyer, i’m looking more forward to Move. Comes out the day after Halo Reach too, should be a good birthday week :)
