In what has to be called the most surprising part of E3 this year, Gabe Newell took to the stage for Sony’s press event. He ate some humble pie for the comments he has made about the PS3 and then proceeded to announce that Portal 2 would be coming to Sony’s machine, it would be the “best version” and it would feature Steam elements.
So, is that Steam on PS3? Seems like a stretch to me but that’s how it came across.
This is a huge announcement from Valve, one of the PS3’s most outspoken critics until recently. We’ll keep you up to speed as things progress.

He specifically mentioned SteamCloud. According to this (http://store.steampowered.com/news/1968/) it’s more to do with saving your settings etc so your experience is the same in every Steam game on every platform…
Favorite bit was Gabe saying Kevin Butler had introduced himself backstage as “VP of sharpening things”

Easily the most shocking and most welcome surprise at E3. I’m really glad to see Valve finally supporting the PS3, even making this version the best. Another must-buy game suddenly appeared on my list

Hearing Glados’s voice was a wonderful wonderful thing. She’s easily one of the best characters in all of gaming, and reason alone to be excited for Portal 2. Delighted that it’s coming to PS3.

Even if someone would’ve leaked that Newell would appear on stage to announce Portal 2 on the PS3, and that it’s going to be the best version of all consoles, nobody would’ve believed it :)

portal is good, steam, not so much.
if it means the titles are going to be locked to a single user, then, not interested, this applies to disc games of course not downloadable titles.
the steamcloud thing sounds ok, but not the drm.
still, what a turnaround eh, if there was one person i didn’t expect at the sony conference it was gabe newell.
this doesn’t mean i like him by the way, his previous refusal to support the ps3 is not why i disliked him, so supporting it now changes nothing.
