In what has to be called the most surprising part of E3 this year, Gabe Newell took to the stage for Sony’s press event. He ate some humble pie for the comments he has made about the PS3 and then proceeded to announce that Portal 2 would be coming to Sony’s machine, it would be the “best version” and it would feature Steam elements.
So, is that Steam on PS3? Seems like a stretch to me but that’s how it came across.
This is a huge announcement from Valve, one of the PS3’s most outspoken critics until recently. We’ll keep you up to speed as things progress.

I don’t see it as him eating humble pie. Basicly he was telling people who asked Valve dont do shoddy ports, and they didnt have the talent or help to make a decent port (which is fair to be honest). Ok so his comments might of been over the top. But I commend Sony as for rathe then go ‘well their games are rubbish anyway’. They must of obvious seen this and thought, lets offer our help to get these guys on board.
Gabe then gets a call from sony saying ‘hey, we know you make top quality games, and that you are struggling with the PS3, how can we help you to get the port to a standard you’d be happy to release’. Gabe being a business man tells Sony what he wants, Sony say here you go, he takes this help, as he knows now Sony take him serious, and are willing to help.
PS3 owners get top quality games, Sony shock people by turning a critic to a friend, and Gabe makes more money and gets to turn people and adds to his rep as being someone who stuck to his guns. Everyone is a winner.
