Play.Com Prices Move For UK

Online retailer Play.com has listed PlayStation Move, the Navigation Controller and a starter pack for pre-order. The starter pack (pictured below) lands at £49.99 but comes with a ‘starter disc’ rather than a copy of Sports Champions.

Stand alone, and indeed sit alone, bent knees legs evenly spaced swinging a virtual gold club alone, stealthy hiding behind the sofa for a sneak kill alone and dancing like a Muppet on speed with your Grandma, uhm, not alone, controllers will set you back £39.99.

The Navigation Sub Controller, which I am reliably informed works with my PlayStation rather than that toy version of  Stingray I have in the bath, lands at £29.99.

Yesterday Sony announced the European price for the Starter Pack would be €59.99, with Move controllers costing €39.99 and Navigation Controllers at  €29.99. It seems 1€ = 1£ these days.

Don’t forget, if you are gong to shop with Play.com just use this handy link here and you will be helping the TSA biscuit fund, we’re out of Garibaldi and I really like them.

  1. So it’s near enough £80 for the Move controller, Eye, and the Sub? That’s very steep. Whatever happened to a Move/Sub bundle for those of us that already have the Eye??

    • Even if there isn’t an official bundle i’d watch out as many stores/websites will probably do their own.

    • Exactly my point, so far there doesn’t seem to be a bundle, which if it doesn’t turn out there actually is one I will really resent

    • This is all i have thought regards the Move since the announcement last night . I bought a PS Eye earlier this year so as to be ready for the Move and now it seems like the only bundle is a Move wand with an Eye , surely to god they will do a pack with a wand and a Navigation controller at a slight discount .
Sorry but im not paying no more than £55 for the 2 . At the end of the day its just a stick with a ball on it and some circuit board gizzards , how can that be £39.99 .
I ideally wanted to get 2 but that’s totally out of the question now . Incidentally how much where 2 of the original Wiimotes when the Wii first launched ? was it £80 for two ?

      • 40 euros per controller in Europe, that means both the wiimote AND the nunchuck cost 40 euros.

  2. Australia has pricing:

    Move – $70
    Sub – $50
    Bundle – $100 (move + eye + disc)
    Dualshock 3 – $100 (for comparison).

Given our sub is 1/2 the cost of a DS3 (much like the US $30 sub $55 ds3), I’d be surprised if UK prices are as you’ve suggested.

  3. 1EURO = £1 is not fair these days, aleast keep to the currency conversion
however, they are fair prices on there own :)

  4. Hopefully NOT the final price besides, shopto will probably be cheaper more reliable and ohhh less shit than play. Always greatfull for tsa for turning me to them :-£

  5. The main Motion Controller is not too bad seeing as the Wii Remote + Motion Plus are £44.99 on Play.com. However the Navigation Controller at £29.99 is a bit much compared to the £14.99 Wii Nunchuck or am I missing some feature the Navigation Controller has that’s far superior?

  6. Hmm… In the article it says 40€ for the move controller but play.com lists it at 52€. Not going to order it through them, sorry. :/

  7. Well i have been massively against waggle but i have to say that yesterday’s conference convinced me. Good job Sony.

    Preordered

  8. I’m definitely interested but the Navigation Sub Controller in particular seems a mite excessive.

When a few titles are available, initial interest in on the wane and some games are clearly found to be better than others, a few different bundles and slightly less pocket shocking prices are around then I will be much more inclined to hand over the readies.
