PS Move: Shooting Attachment

Sony’s PlayStation Move press release mentions two official Move accessories. A charging station and a shooting attachment.  Okay, so now you are thinking that the shooting attachment will just be a cheap, anonymous plastic Wii Zapper type affair.  Well you would be wrong:

Here is the descriptive text from the press release for the two accessories.

PlayStation Move charging station

By utilizing the “charging station,” users will be able to charge up to two PlayStation Move controllers, motion controller or the navigation controller, at once without having to connect them to the PS3 system. The “charging station” will become available concurrently with the motion controller launch in each region at a RRP of €29.99, US$29.99 and 2,480 yen (including tax), respectively.

PlayStation Move shooting attachment

The “shooting attachment,” designed to place the PlayStation Move motion controller horizontally, will allow players to hold the motion controller as if they are holding a gun and to easily aim at an in-game target. The trigger on the attachment is interlocked with the motion controller T button and will enable users to intuitively play the game, not only limited to shooting games but also on games that may require precise button input and control. It will deliver immersive gameplay and will work perfectly with software titles like The Shoot!*3 by SCE and Time Crises: Razing Storm by Bandai Namco Games Inc. which is expected to support the attachment. The “shooting attachment” will become available starting this fall in each region at a RRP of €14.99, US$19.99 and 1,480 yen (including tax), respectively.

  1. Ok, well I think that looks awesome. Wonder what the attachments for Kinect will be like?

    • Ha Ha, just had a dirty image…. :D

    • Completely agree with you. It’s a stunning bit of design and the way it integrates with the style of the Move controller itself (with the orb at the end) is nothing short of superb.

  2. i’ve got to be honest i really really like those. they look retro

  3. Looks like a martian ray gun. Pew, pew, pew!

  4. looks mint. If I decide to get a move controller I’m definitely gonna get this along with it

  5. Wow! That’s £30 for a charging station then [assuming the €1=£1 conversion rate continues].

  6. YES.
    THUMBS UP!
    WOOT FOR FAKE GUNS!

  7. mmmm, Orgasmatron attachment.

    nice.

  8. well since time crisis 4 is still about think we could drop namco a message to update that to use move aswell, i look forward to my arcade style shooters again.

as a matter of fact i can see allot of arcade style shooters working well with this

remake die hard 2 from the die hard trilogy game, that was awsome.

  9. I lol’d at the notion of a gun attachment for the Move but it is kinda nice. Not sure i would ever buy one all the same.

  10. Activision should take a look at Sony. A piece of plastic that makes a button longer and costs $20. Seriously, this puts the plastic guitar to shame.

    • Yeah, you’re right, they should just give it away for free.

Who do Sony think they are anyway, some kind of ‘company’, looking to make ‘profit’? We all know Sony is Japanese for ‘gaming charity’.

      • I don’t expect them to give it away for free.

Water pistol (cheap plastic gun) £1.48 or plastic gun shell for move $20

      • This looks a lot higher quality than your cheapo water pistols. And it doesn’t just make a button longer it gives you a shape which is going to be fundamentally more natural to hold while playing some of the Move shooting games. (Not that guns are natural, but you know what I mean.)

If you don’t like the price don’t buy it. I’m sure Nyko or Mad Catz will come out with something much closer to your desired cheap water pistol aesthetic.

    • the only slight difference between this and those plastic guitars is that Guitar Hero, Rock band & co are virtually impossible to play without…
nobody forces you to buy this gun-thing
