Rumours have it that Kinect is going to cost around $150. That’s a staggering amount of money, especially when you consider that Sony recently announced Move was going to cost $49.99.
Speaking with GI.biz at E3, Entertainment & Devices manager at Microsoft Germany – Oliver Kaltner – said that the official price for Kinect will be revealed at this year’s Gamescom, which takes place in August.
Kaltner believes, at this point in time, that price is not an “important” factor and that it actually “distracts” from the possibilities of the hardware.
We have first and foremost a product to offer that doesn’t have any entry barriers – which means that the access to fun, family entertainment and social entertainment is a direct access. I would never be able to communicate all these aspects if we mentioned a price point.
…at a certain point you end up being confident that it offers good value for money and is relevant in the market.
Kaltner also believes that Microsoft are the “significant force at E3” this year and added that they have more to show, unveil and reveal at Gamescom as Microsoft put more weight behind the Cologne event.

if you havent got a xbox already and are wanting the elite your shelling out around £400 jus for those two whereas with the PS3 and the move even with 2 controllers its cheaper at £350 depending on what the bundled move and PSEye are priced at even then its still cheaper

Amazon, walmart and Bestbuy have it at $149

This often happens, but is in now confirmation. They just like to get pre-orders up early and need a price they can charge.

So 149 dollars is about £110-120 am I right? Of course many companies see the exchange rate as non existent so we’re possibly looking at £140-150 for Kinnect.
Seriosuly, there is NOTHING I’ve seen that warrant me spending that much money on it. No games that appeal to me, and granted I’m not their target audience, but I tell you what, they definately need some top games for Cologne. As do Sony, but Sorcery and Killzone 3 are great titles that will follow in Spring.
Interesting few months I think.
