Microsoft have not decided on the final pricing of Kinect, despite their own website listing the controller for $149.99. A Tweet from Stephen Toulouse, Microsoft’s director of policy and enforcement for XBox LIVE said,
“All prices now *no matter what the retail source* are placeholders. We’ve not announced.”
Sorry Gastos, you are going to have to recompute your pricing analysis again.

With both the PS3/Move and XBOX360/Kinect bundles priced equally it’s going to be interesting. It doesn’t matter how i feel or joke about Kinect because it’s the casuals/newcomers who will decide. I can see Move selling well to PS3 core gamers whereas i think a much smaller number of core xbox’rs will be attracted to it. For this reason i think the standalone Kinect unit may not sell in large numbers and then it’ll be down to the bundles, including whatever software they can pull from their hat at the last moment (who knows they might have a surprise yet). Similarly for Sony – i’m expecting something more and i won’t really be satisfied ’til i see the stuff from that endgadget Move demo used in a game.
As cc_star says the mainstream media are in awe of Kinect but I did read one article in one of the big newspapers online (sorry i can’t remember which) in which the author was saying how wonderful Kinect was but ended up by saying that as fun as the games were he couldn’t wait to play his favourite games like Halo with it… :)
