It has now been officially confirmed that Microsoft’s Kinect will not be going on sale in China. This will come as no surprise for many as China’s Ministry of Culture edict, issued in 2000, prohibits the sale of video game equipment and accessories.
One of the few companies to have made inroads into the Chinese market is Nintendo and their joint venture with iQue, who released the iQue Player in 2003, which is a console based on Nintendo 64 hardware.
Microsoft China COO Michel Van Der Be has said that the company intends to cooperate with local laws.

What the hell is wrong with people..?
The state of this world is truly sad.
MegaBonez
Am I understanding this correctly, you can’t own a console in china?!
Pete_UK
It probably cuts productivity or something; economic slavery and all that.
Uhyve
Heh, they can make our consoles but they can’t use em.
bajere

Danza Di Fuoco

rht992

paulleeper2430

carson321
Thats what it sounds like! this does sound a bit strange.
Does this mean Sony can’t market Move in China either??
carson321
Actually, it does say, ‘sale of video game equipment and accessories’ doesn’t mean you can’t own one
Dan Lee
they cant sell you one, but im pretty sure you can import.

MXZ
Suddenly i love china

It unsurprising really, we always moan and complain about our country but we should remember at least we can bitch and moan about it

I think if I lived in China i’d just die of boredom.
KAMIKAZE-UK

Or you may kill your self after a 16 hour shift at £1 a day putting the same button on an iPhone over and over again. Then if you fail to do it in under 3 seconds a button you will be forced to stand up in front of the factory and read a written statement explaining that you are a terrible employee – that’s what they showed on Panorama anyway.
bunimomike
Ah, you have to love that oppression. Shocking, isn’t it. No wonder the likes of Google are having trouble over there.
Bilbo_bobbins
If I owned a company, you can see why you would want to try to get a product sold in China, but it’s not worth the hassle you get, as in Google. They provide them a service, then get kicked in the teeth for doing so. China is a state.
bunimomike
With it being the most populated country in the world, Google have shown that even a small slice of the market can still have great return. Just the whole moral/freedom/ethical bit rearing its ugly noggin’.
chibber
What was the Google tag line again “Don’t be evil” makes a mockery of it really dosen’t it
ericzap
China does not like movements.
Get it?
citizeninsane45
Get out……….
rht992
i thought that was goodun
tinman9
ironic…made in China probably and then banned in their own country :)
bunimomike
Hahahaha! That would be awesome! *applauds*
Charmed_Fanatic
LMAO!!
amiga_dude
The issue is Cross Game Chat of CGC (sounds like some advanced military thing that way) and Great Firewall China. They will not be able to block Chinese people talking about truth and there something called freedom. With freedom also there comes UNIONS!
