EU PlayStation Plus September Content Announced

OK, we’re picking up on a vibe that some people have been less than impressed with the first couple of months’ content associated with Sony’s PlayStation Plus program. Games we all have (or don’t want), Europe not getting as much content as our US brethren, hell, even peer pressure reared its ugly head in the comments section of this particular post.

Well, time to buckle down the hatches, as the Official EU blog has just updated what’s coming in September for us (un)lucky Plusites. Brace yourself, here comes the shit-storm (maybe – I’m actually quite happy as I have virtually none of this content. But, hey, that’s just me.)

But that’s not all! Perhaps following the American route, expect some special treats mid-month. James Thorpe over on the blog states:

We’ve listened to your feedback on here so, rest assured, this is not all that will be available each month; look out for some more exclusive, surprise treats coming to Plus in August and September.

There. Better? No? Still unhappy? Ah well, they’ve got another nine months to make you happy. Has to happen sometime, right?

Update: Some people are questioning what the hell is going on with the Warhawk offers above. It looks like a typo has sneaked in and that 20% in the Exclusive Discounts section should match the 50% in the Trial area. This is still unconfirmed we should add though the blog’s James is looking into it. Finally, a Mafia II demo will be available to PlayStation Plus users 24 hours early on August 10th. It’s not much but hey – it’s better than a dead fish in your bed.

  1. Arrgh! I have hardly none of this, but I still can’t decide whether to sign up!

    • If you do it today you get digital copy of LBP as well as access to all of July’s content

      I presume once the ‘month’ is over you no longer can download the content

      • Yeah, that’s what’s making the decision so hard. I’m tempted to wait and see whether they can keep the quality of the content up, but the offer of Wipeout HD among other things is slowly killing my brain.

    • Go for it. It’ll easily pay for itself over the year.

      • Indecisiveness. Is. Hell. So tempting but I just can’t bring myself to push the bloody buy button!

      • I’m loving it so far. I dl’d the Killzone DLC and I’m going to buy the game tomorrow. I never got into it when it first came out but with the free DLC I’m looking forward to getting into it.

        Also getting LBP was good because I traded in the disc and got a few quid for the network cards. The other point on that is that I’m finding I’m actually playing it more now too. It might seem lazy but having it on my system is just so much more convenient.

Again this all 1st party content besides mini’s when are they gonna put some 3rd party content up for PS+ users for instance the extortainate rip off prices that are Fallout 3 DLC could do with being reduced to name but 1 not that i will ever sign to this crap considering the US are gettin like 200 times more stuff a month

  4. I’m quite happy with all the content sofar, but then again I’ve never really purchased anything from the store before – I’ve never been a big fan of digital download content, I like to have shiney things I can display :) So PS+ has been a good incentive for me in that respect.

  5. I’m very interested in Sam and Max so i might just take the plunge.

    It’s $35 on the US store so that’ll leave me with 11 months to hopefully get $15 worth of content to justify the $50 sub. I like those odds.

    • Obviously that’s assuming that Sam and Max are included in the US Content.

  7. SCE needs to stop giving stuff away for free, refine the ‘features’ they promised, show the devs that psn+ is profitable then start pressuring them to add x-game/party chat. Discounts are fine, they aren’t losing much that way, but totally free is a bad business plan (in my eye).

    Live doesn’t give away free crap to subscribers; they compensate with robust servers, FAST patches, and overall quality service. As much as I can’t stand using my xbox, they run online very, very well.

    Hopefully PSN+ catches up soon!

      But get ready for some flack. That comment was pro MS, and that doesn’t always go down well on this site. Of course by saying that, I’ve inadvertently taking the heat off you and directed it at myself.

      • i have to agree with him giving rubbish away is not good they need to deliver the features they promised for PS+ and give more featurees to get more people to sign up to it 1 free game a month and some other rubbish most people already have isnt exactly giving poeople a good service throwing in background patch downloading and only for the last 10 games played isnt good enough people are basically paying for a rental service coz thats all it is

    • You arguemtnt is invalid. For a start Sony is not in charge of any game servers (apat from their own ones) so “Robust servers” are down to Activision or whoever. PSN Downlaods and patches without you having to be there, thast even better than “fast” patches. And cross game chat – meh, who cares

      • i already knew that tuffcub but alot of people dont thats why PSN differs so much from XBL Sony dont own or control the games servers like MS do for Xbox. problems with games servers are not Sony’s problem PSN is a great service as it was being free without PS+ but alot of peolpe put problems with the games servers down to Sony and its not there problem apart from the ones they own for their 1st party games

      • XBL is also what 4 years as a paid service compared to 2 months for PS+. Quite harsh to compare so critically.

      • Kinda matey but with Sony looking at MS every day, you’d like to think they could hit the ground running on this one. I for one, would love more features as oppose to just discounts. Then again, I may well be in the minority.

    • XBL is ‘joined up’ service, the PSN is bolted together.

      PS+ is nothing like Gold, just like the PSN is nothing like XBL.

      I’d prefer the PSN to be massively more joined up, but I can’t see it happening.

      Top of my wish list is for Sony to make a Web Interface for the PSN Store & Messaging system, they’d sell more stuff to impulse purchasers so it would pay for itself, and the Messaging system being brought to the web (and crucially smartphones, for when when WinMo7 launches) is that it will enhance community – and give opportunities to display ads so again could pay for itself.

    Looks fantastic to me!
    Just signed up yesterday, and am very glad I did!
