Nippon Ichi Posts Loss

Disgaea developer –  Nippon Ichi – has issued a statement today saying that it will be incurring a special loss as it cancels three consumer game projects.

It seems that by looking over the balance books, they have decided that achieving sales and maintaining quality for the games could end up being difficult.  The three games in question – which have yet to be named – have been in development since last year.  The cancellations mean that Nippon Ichi will incur a one-time Â¥21 million yen loss.

Nippon Ichi’s first quarter earnings report today made for equally grim reading, with a 40.6% drop in sales from the same period last year. The company posted an operating loss of Â¥15 million, down from the slight Â¥12 million surplus of last year.

  1. Damn a possible disgaea 4 cancellation then?

    • I really hope not!

      • I really hope not more than you!!!

    • Although not included in this article, it does say it was 3 un-announced titles.

  2. Better not be that PSP spanking game, the PSP needs more qual.. *cough* *choke* hahahah.

Hopefully it’s not the next disgaea that gets cancelled. I expect it isn’t because I think atleast in the west its the most popular N1 series.
