Black Ops YouTube Tease

Josh Olin, Community Manager for Treyarch, posted the following tweet at 17.35 today…

Check out this awesome YouTube video I found! http://2020.vg/aYwv0X ;-) #CODBlackOps

The link takes you to the YouTube video we’ve posted again below. Unsurprisingly, for the most part it looks very similar to Modern Warfare 2’s multiplayer, but with a few tweaks.

The little remote controlled car-bomb killstreak reward seems nice and rage-inducing, and the suggestion of new melee weapons is a nice touch, but the trailer’s biggest tease comes at the end.

Killcam playback and editing, anyone?

  1. Looks amazing, love the explosive remote controlled car. And planting cameras for surveillance which you can then record footage from, edit & upload is a great idea for the creatives.

And the appearance of a crossbow makes it an instant +1 in my book.

Hopefully there’s a supermarket special on launch day again.

    • I remember suggesting the remote controlled car bomb for Modern Warfare 2, so it’s good to see it being included in one of the Call of Duty games.

    • Also, the dual knife pointy firing stabby things on the snow ledge bit. This game has become more appealing to me than MW2 did. Dayyuummm…

  2. Being able to upload killcams, damn guess ill end up on youtube many times. Hate my mates and their insane skill on CoD.

Looks good after thinking i wouldn’t buy CoD as i don’t really like it lets hope it’s cheap like MW2 on release day.

  3. 0_0 I want this game now! Screw MW2!

  4. It looks incredible, but no doubt the novelty will wear off pretty quickly.

    • very true, but i think this looks a lot better than MW2 did in its reveal.

      may actually get this now…

      • I didn’t want to buy another COD after last time, but this looks great. My only worry is that it looks very similar to MW2, so could end up being the same after a few goes.

  5. Looks like a complete graphical overhaul.

Obviously, a lot more to be explained, but is all looking pretty sweet.

And the inbuilt Machinima thingy looks pretty epic

    • Also, we know that the map with the Rocket launching is called ‘Launch’ :D

      • please grab your hat and leave the room lol

    • Another things, at 0:57 you can see a missile fly through and then bend and round? Player guided missiles

And it appears that snow map is called Summit

  6. Incredible. I remember the feeling MW2’s multi-player trailer gave me and this just topped it. I don’t care what people think, the Call of Duty franchise is great and this just about proves it.

    • completely agree with u, everyone comlpains about it but tbh its one of the most successful franchises

      • No doubt about it, the SERIES is good. I just hated MW2, loved COD 4 and W@W was pretty good, but I hated MW2. Infinity Ward tried to do too much and made a balls of it.

  7. Whilst it does look amazing, if it’s plagued with the same issues as MW2 had then it doesn’t really mate.

    • What issues, if you don’t mind me asking?

      • The wealth of bugs, glitches, cheats, campers.

      • I haven’t encountered any bugs. Glitches and cheats are rife in all MP games and camping, well surely that’s simply tactics. Nothing different to any other FPS game out there.

      • It is far more prevalent than any other MP game that I have ever played.

I’m shocked that you haven’t encountered ‘any’ bugs. Most people have. The amount of cheating and glitches is far worse in MW and MW2 than any other shooter, and camping is not a tactic, it’s a cheap cowardly way of playing.

      • No bugs? Sorry man, I don’t think you are being entirely truthful there. The javelin bug, invite bug, cage match glitch, care package glitch…I could go on and on.

      • When was the last time you played? At launch, there was some balancing issues with regards to damage/range/etc but now, everything works well.
Also, your last sentence isn’t the fault of IW (or Treyarch in this case) at all. They can’t stop certain people playing or playing in a “cheap cowardly way.”
Some modes even require such tactics, like Headquarters or Demolition. I often find myself in the same, useful, position for an entire round while defending an area.

      • @nemesisND1derboy: They may exist but fortunately for me, I’ve not seen them. Maybe I’m just very lucky.

      • I played it the other day, if you dont believer me, check my played games on Xbox Live. I’m not saying it’s their fault that people are nobs on it, just they facilitated it unbeknownst to themselves. Their desire to add to many things to the game is admirable, but ultimately led to the game’s downfall to me. Things like Bling, commando, certain map design and playlist variants have been taken advantage of by cheaters, and that is down to the game’s design. People will use whatever tools you give them to get one up on their opponents, and unfortunately IW provided too much tools. And these bugs are still rampant in the game, every new patch that fixes something brings some new bug. Its unfortunate.

Don’t get me wrong, I am looking forward to Black Ops, I will just be more cautious this time.

And, in conclusion, Robert Bowling is no stealth clown!

      • Probably played it until December time. Was so put off it that I haven’t gone back and have no intention to.

      • I’m the same as Murdo. Haven’t encountered any bugs (but know people who have) and I camp every so often when defending, etc. What annoys me the most on MW2 is people moaning at me when I kill them with a grenade launcher or use a heartbeat sensor. They have the same equipment available but because they choose not to use it, I’m a twat.

      • No, you are a twat because you are cheating. Camping is cheating. That is why I prefer BFBC2, because if u camp, Iblow your cover up :) Alls well that ends well :P

      • I’m lost. Since when is camping cheating?

      • Being unskilful and and camping to get an unfair advantage over other players and to ruin their enjoyment is cheating to me.

      • yeah there’s nothing quite as bad as a group of people camping on a game. doesn’t matter what game is it just ruins it

      • Digging in, in a defencive position is cheating? What

Yeah it’s annoying if more than one person on an opposing team is doing it, and that shouldn’t be done, but one person doing some defendinding is surely a tactic isn’t it. What are they supposed to do, make it easy for you to kill them

      • Haha. Camping is cheating?

You need to rethink your tactics a bit more, buddy. I think if the Army was tasked with defending a building or a package, they might just assume a position and hold. It would seem the best way to make sure everything remains safe and secure and no energy/ammo would be wasted on mindless chasing. CoD may not be a war simulator but that doesn’t mean the same tactics can’t be used.

And you say you’d blow my cover away? Well that’s a bit too easy, isn’t it? Where’s the skill in that?

      • @djhsecondnature

You only have glance at the tweet feeds of people as they come off KZ2 to see that has degenerated into a campfest, and abusers of weapons & all the other shit. Given MW2’s massively larger userbase it probably compares favourably

      • @cc_star – Not exactly a camp fest regarding the KZ2. But rather going against our fair play rules and stuff. I understand it might look rather extreme, but Killzone does have a couple of issues that can create negativity. Its not the same type of camping as in MW2 anyway.

      • I think the only reason MW2 appeared to have so ‘many’ glitches was because so many millions of people played it and tried to abuse it to find the glitches.

I only came across any glitches twice and that was last year. I can’t think of more than 10 glitches that were used for cheating and as far as I know, they have all been eradicated by patches.

I find it so frustrating to read people’s comments saying things like “MW2 sucks! Infinity Ward FAILeD! BFBC2 is soo much better”. The only reason the vast majority of people say that is because it has become fashionable to say it. It is soo well made. The amount of customisation, unlocks, perks, ranks along with the (in my opinion) perfect aiming mechanics makes it the only game I have come back to over and over again for many hours just to play the multiplayer.

I find the bombardment of Killstreaks a bit annoying at times but getting your own Killstreaks is so satisfying that it makes up for the rest of them.

Also, the amount of technical innovations in the game is too overlooked. For example, the host migration that prevents (most of the time) games ending because the host leaves, the game cross-game invitations are both things that were used for the first time AFAIK.

        Gush over.

      • For me Black Ops could revolutionise MP gaming, but if it holds the same Call of Duty community, then I don’t want to know.

      • Of course the same people will buy it but that doesn’t make it instantly bad. Online with some friends can be great fun.

      • It can be, but Call of Duty MP is against the community, which is the main flaw in it’s online unfortunately.

      • Sitting in the corner in hardcore DM or even regular DM with a shotgun ain’t defending mate, so I think you need to rethink yours. And blowing cover away is a bit more realistic. I’m sure if you were in the army and people were sitting in a building you would be told to blow it the fuck up. Call of Duty may be a war simulator, but it doesn’t mean THOSE same tactics shouldnt apply. I’m sorry, but I have zero tolerance for camping. So please, stick to Modern Warfare, because that’s where campers belong…

      • *may not be a war simulator…nearly gave it too much credit there…

      • Good thing I never said TDM or DM then, eh?

      • Well I’m making my case against the whole of Modern Warfare in general, so whether you said it or not isn’t reaaly relevant. You can’t say it is acceptable in Objective games and not in others, thats just selective reasoning…

Look I’m off to bed now, and I’m not bothered about debating this anymore really. Kets just agree to differ on this one and hope Black Ops is an experience for all to enjoy. Sure, if it’s not, we have Halo Reach and Medal of Honor to keep us going anyway :)

      • * lets…my spelling is way off tonight…

    • And there is no excuse for camping man :P I’m sorry

      • Kinda agree with nemesisND1derboy. In BioShock 2 or Killzone 2 when someone camp and shoot player from the back, you have 3 seconds to kill that camper, because it takes longer to kill and MW2 when someone camp… you die in 1 second.

      • And BBFBC2. That is why camping is not as prominent in those games, therefore leading to a better experience. Camping ruined Modern Warfare for me, and I really hope they do something to prevent it in Black Ops, because it has the potential to be the best COD game so far.

  8. Looks like the ‘tweaks’ may prove to be quite significant, I just hope the flowing and very slick gameplay hasn’t been lost in favour of something more BFBC like.

  9. Uh oh.

Seeing this makes me want to buy it! I’ve said about every COD game since MW and I always trade it in a couple of weeks after due to frustration at the game.

    However I want it now!

    • I thought that about MW2

My feelings were it’s not so much the game, but because of the volume of people that play it, you seem to get more abusers (of glitches/campers/powerful weapons etc) than in other games.

I left MW2 when the 1887’s Akimbo abusers were at their worst, and despite not really liking FPS or being very good at it I was loving the game up till then.

      • The amount of people that play it means I’m usually getting more deaths than kills and getting frustrated with other plays who camp or somehow mow me down easily whilst I struggle.

It might be because I’m crap but it just annoyed me. I might try again though.

      • 1887 Akimboed is quite rare online now, especially in modes other than TDM. I recommend everyone to give it another go if this sort of thing had put them off.

      • I gave it many more goes, and it disappointed me many more times…The community is just terrible IMO

    • @Murdo Its not even really glitches or such. Its how unbalanced and how seemingly unfortunate I am everytime I encounter anyone. I die so quickly yet it seems to take an age for me to kill someone. Im sure I am not that bad of a shot.

I’ve recently played Hardcore TD which I enjoyed but the vast online community and hardcore serious players have made the game unenjoyable for me now. I prefer games that allow you to have fun rather than making me want to throw my controller out the window.

      • Needs a system where time played, KD ratio, and possibly a skill level are used to balance out games so you can choose to either play against people of similar level or anyone if you choose.

I was also frustrated at first with MW2 but was glad I stuck with it. Ended up playing 90+ Hrs and getting to 1.20 KD ratio.

On the question of camping I dont think it’s really fair to blaim the game, it’s the players who choose to play that way. I would suggest that camping still happens a lot in BC2 also (people waiting in bases in rush mode and shooting you as you spawn), one of those things with MP FPS games.

TBH I find online racing games like Grid, NFS Shift, Dirt2 even more frustrating due to there always being one idiot who uses your car as a brake into corners, or who thinks its funny to drive the wrong way around the track etc.

  10. Uploading Killcams is quite decent though although there are other features i would prefer over it

Looks good with some new features but then the last one looked good and i ended up strongly disliking the online so i’m not gonna buy.
