Remember Reach with a Monument

There’s just three weeks to go until Microsoft’s great hope for 2010 hits store shelves. Halo: Reach is the game that the US console giant is banking on for the second half of this year and to be fair, it’s a pretty safe bet.

One of the biggest-selling, most popular franchises in the history of gaming is about to get a new installment and we’re beginning to get a little excited for it.

It’s not all about excitement though. Bungie and Microsoft are asking that we remember the Halo universe’s brave souls who laid down their lives for humanity on the ill-fated planet of Reach. They’ve put together a website which will enable us all to contribute to the memorial for these brave (but fictitious…) men and women. The site is due to go live right about now so we suggest that you nip over and have a look.

Visit RememberReach.com and add your input to the monument. While you’re there, it might be worth bookmarking because we’ve been told that there will also be  series of three live-action shorts that give a glimpse of life on Reach just before the DropShips came down.

  1. It’s interesting and all, but I can’t be the only one thinking spending money on this that could’ve gone to a real war memorial is a tad… wrong?

    • All told, that’s a sad truth in everyday life. Example: the city I live in, rife with gang violence and with plenty of social-economic problems such as homelessness and poverty, is undergoing a massive infrastructure overhaul to pave the way for IKEA. And those are TAX dollars. Bungie can do what they want with their moneys, although a real memorial would be “right”.

      • Not going to war in the first place would be the right thing to do….

  2. I’ve never managed to get into Halo, maybe it’s my fanboyism showing through, last night I watched the ending on YouTube, it’s on there dues to the copy that hackers made of the game… looks good, I won’t put the link in to avoid temptation to the people who wan’t to see it but don’t wan’t to spoil it for themselves… :p

  3. Why is the website counting up? was 7 mins then i refreshed it was 12 and now it’s 14 :/

    • Yep, it’s counting up! Currently on ~35mins, how can the time until it’s unveiled be increasing! Oops! (perhaps the counter went past zero and kept going!)

      • Current counting up 0 days – 1hr – 16 min – 179 sec ??? WTF! Hope the game is written better than this.

  4. Does the site also explain the backstory of the games? I only ever played the first one and while it was good, I didnt like the second, never played the third and was unimpressed by the one game I had of ODST. I heard Reach is supposed to be the big comeback tho, so I may get it, but not sure if a “Previously on Halo..” is required.

  5. Sounds goood, bookmarked
