inFAMOUS 2 Listed As Supporting Move

One of the key concerns when Move was first announced was that it would descend into party game and shovelware central.  Thankfully this doesn’t seem to be the case with games like SOCOM 4, MAG and Killzone 3 all looking tantalisingly good.

Judging by the Official US PlayStation site, the latest game to be recruited under Move’s banner is inFAMOUS 2 as it is listed between SOCOM 4 and Time Crisis.

Sony hasn’t officially announced this so we will be contacting them first thing Monday morning for comments.

  1. It’ll be interesting to see how Sucker Punch incorporate the Move controller into the game. Good to see another high profile title linked with Move.

  2. It would be good if a lot of forthcoming games had a legitimate in-built dual control system so people who aren’t fully pro Move or fully pro DS3 can choose their preferred control option for their desired game, that may up costs and development time though slightly.

It’s nice to see a lot of full blown premium titles getting behind Move and supporting the new hardware.

  3. OK,

We’re all gamers here, none of us are strangers to all day, and maybe even all night gaming sessions, so what I’m wondering with Move and its appearance in all forthcoming ‘core’ games is how is anyone supposed to play for more than about 15mins with their arm half-outstretched?

all this accuracy Sony is doing such a good job selling us on will be lost through natural fatigue after a qtr of an hour so, this of course doesn’t effect games which traditionally suit motion gameplay like Sports champions and the great sounding disc golf, table tennis and archery, where you play in a ‘hot seat’ but I believe would greatly effect ‘core’ games where you play for half-our to a whole day?

I know Move is technically awesome, and experiences in games designed for motion will no doubt be brilliant but I fear the human body will be a debilitating factor in its omni-presence in ‘gamers games’

Of course none of this will show up in the fantastic demos we’re seeing or even the hands-on sessions we read about, but will only become apparent once you’ve forked out for it all and settled down to play for a while

    • 1) Im sure people, hardcore gamers, who become engrossed in the game would last more than 15 minutes as they would forget about it. 2) You could always not use move once you get tired, its fun to have have but im sure they dont intend for you to play the whole game with move if you have the peripherals.

    • i can see what your saying, but the audience that move is aimed at will get round this problem. the causal player will more or less play an hour at a time in party games and the hardcore gamer is properly used to sitting playing games for a lot longer. The same happened at first while playing on the wii playing metroid for long play sessions but i noticed when my arms became tired i ended up in a position where my right had used to rest on top of my left hand in a cross position and i could still move the nunchuck with my left hand and aim and fire with my right hand, strange but it worked and the move controller is much better than the wii controller in not having to be facing direct to the screen.

    • Have you not watched any of the Move demos cc_star? The one thing that always impresses me is how subtle the movement is, there is no crazy arm waving in hardcore games and no requirement to stand up or stretch out arms. In fact half the time you can barely notice they’re moving the controller!

IMO it will cause no more arm fatigue than holding a DS3 would cause – for hardcore games you essentially hold it the same as a DS3, it’s basically a split in two DS3 with some minor additional wrist action (and I doubt most games keep their DS3 completely still while playing either)…

      • Of course, did you even read my comment where I never mentioned waving your arms around or anything, but merely questioned how easy it would be to maintain a pointing device (which is what it will be in FPS & third person games) with half your arm raised for an extended period, its not like these games are played in 30sec-5min bouts like motion games have been so far…

It’s very easy to hold a joypad and move the sticks with the underside of your hands resting on your lap and whether sat up straight or slouched your arms are easily rested throughout your entire play session.

With a pointing device, your forearm is required to be in a raised position… I’m not talking about waving your arms around like a loom, but instead maintain the pointing device aimed at the TV…

Like I say for motion games you rarely play for more than a few mins at a time, before someone else has a go, but for a gamers game that you probably invest a few hours into at a time it just seems that Sony are working hard on selling it to the core rather than considering whether it’s needed or even possible to use in the style of games that normally receive extended playing time.

    • On the wii you don’t have to play wit your arm stretched. I hate to use an internet meme here, but if you do, your doing wrong!

      • with your arms stretched* you’re doing it wrong* god I need an edit button lol.

      • “…with their arm half-outstretched…”

      • Your arms don’t need to be outstretched anymore then when you’re holding your dual shock. Truuust me. I use to play mario galaxy 1/2 while laying down. I once played for four hours straight (minus the bathroom break) without getting a repetitive stress injury. It’s not a big deal. You just need to remind yourself you don’t have to hold the remote in the air.

  4. Sounds cool….sounds very cool……..

  5. would be another great reason for me to get move

  6. Sounds good, nice to have a good games supporting Move

  7. I don’t think it is necessary to have your arm stretched towards TV all the time. As far as I remember from the on stage demo of Socom 4 they showed at GDC in March, the guy demo’ing it seemed pretty relaxed with his arms. And, I assume that anytime you wanted to, you could turn of the move ability and play in the traditional way.
