Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light Co-op also Delayed on PS3

Remember when the news appeared that Xbox 360 users, who are getting Lara Croft: Guardian of Light earlier than their PS3 and PC counterparts, wouldn’t be getting the online co-op part of the game, a feature that would appear “at a later date”? Yeah, well, time to stop laughing PS3 zealots, as it appears that, when it does appear on the PSN (later this month — apparently), it, too, will be without its collaborative offering.

Just like history repeating itself, we’re promised that the extra game mode will arrive on the PS3 and PC “at a later date”. Local co-op will still launch with the game. We’re also told that the online co-op element is scheduled for the 360 “very soon.” All sounds incredibly tentative. Here’s hoping this doesn’t turn into another Duke Nukem. I really don’t want to be 40 and watching PAX 2018 when they finally roll old Lara out and announce that — at long last! — co-op is coming.

  1. Oh, that’s okay, I just won’t buy it then.

    • same here

    • I wouldn’t let the lack of online play put you off. It really is an excellent game both in single player and local co-op

    • cut your nose off to spite your face?

Its supposed to be a real 9/10 as it is, you get to complete the campaign, and appreciate the sotry etc, and then get free online later… no biggie, surely?

      • I can see where you’re coming from, but for me this was always meant to be a co-op Tomb Raider. I really only want to play it in co-op and I can’t see many people I play online with wanting to play this X weeks / months down the line after finishing it in single-player, so I think I’ll give this one a miss, we’ll see down the line though.

      • You can play co-op, just not online.

      • And it’s is a really good game. One of the stand out XBLA/PSN games this year.

      • This game looks the bees knees, co-op online or locally or not.
If I have the funds, I’ll get it day one.

      • Yep, cant get enough of that delicious sorty.

  2. Was the co-op online or offline? Because if it was offline co-op they can keep it – not all of us have gaming friends that can come round for a trophy session.

    • It’s online.

    • It’s offline already. Online is getting patched in, I think, Lee. Can you confirm?

The reviews have been very good. They reckon the co-op is some of the best around as it’s not just “add another player and double the bad guys”.

      • Which makes sense, now that I think about it, as it’s probably them working out the online logistics seeing as the offline is already in place.

      • I do believe you answered your own question.
        :)

      • My many personalities approve of you. :-)

  3. This is disappointing, looking forward to the co-op more than anything.

  4. Not arsed. Lara croft games have been shit for years. Just a cheek bringing out an unfinished game. Why not wait until it’s finished until they release it?

    • Tomb Raiders been dodgy since the original trilogy IMO, but this is a spinoff which has got loads of 9’s and higher in reviews as it is

    • I’ve grown tired of the franchise long ago but this new angle piques my interest. Demo downloaded (for the 360). Will report back when I play it.

  5. Won’t be buying it until Co-op is in it. What’s the point in releasing a half-working game. Just delay it, we’re used to delays.

  6. Just to be clear: am I right in thinking that offline co-op will be in, and it’s just online co-op that’s coming later?

    • Correct. Offline co-op is a mode that comes with the game. Online co-op comes later.

  7. I’ll just get it when the game has been finished then, no biggy :)

  8. I’m not liking what appears to be an increasing trend of DLC titles being finished on 360, and then there being a massive delay in them coming out on PS3. As another example – where the feck is Blacklight: Tango Down? Have they just given up on the PS3 version?

  9. No co…no go hehe =)

  10. Wasnt really that interested in this at the start but all the reviews that i have read have been pretty good and i wa planning on buying it but ill just wait untill co-op is put in.
