F1 2010 To Get Patched

Numerous players of the highly rated F1 2010 have complained of a bug which creates a corrupt save file. The error occurs if the player has completed some R&D, left the career mode before qualifying, waited for the autosave and then quit the game.

Codemasters have posted this notice on the official F1 2010 forum:

I can confirm that this issue is with development, will be addressed in the patch, and we’d like you to try the following workaround:

After a practice session where you complete an R&D objective and unlock a new upgrade make sure you then load in to the following qualifying session before exiting the game.

And also, as our technical support FAQ now says:

We believe this only occurs if, after completing an R&D objective, you…
– Retire to the paddock via the Engineer (in the garage).
– Terminally damage your car and select retire to paddock.
– Get disqualified and select retire to paddock.

As long as you progress to the qualifying session before quitting the game this problem will not occur.

  1. One of many bugs unfortunately. Do enjoy the game despite its problems though!

    • I’ve only spotted the missing spray from AI cars in replays so far. Really enjoying the game so far.

    • many bugs?

    • Any vespoids yet? nasty creatures they can even paralyze other cars pit behaveior!!

Hope Codemasters eradicate many of the bugs soon!!

  2. I have just done exactly this, as I thought it only occured if it was a 7 season long championship. I will see if my data is corrupted when I load it up in a bit :P. If it is, it wont matter much because I made a back up save not long ago.

Hopefully the patch will come soon, and they will be able to tweak a few other things at the same time like the timing glitches on the online qualifying and the penalties.

  3. at least they are willing to patch their game unlike some companies

  4. This is a disgrace! An article by Tuffcub without a single double-entendre. I am shocked.

  5. Fingers crossed they’ll make your team more realistic too! Lost count of the number of times I’ve been in the top 10 in a Lotus and the stupid radio’s still telling me to overtake the car in front of me!

    Annd breathe……

  6. This is semi-offtopic as is patch-related but has nothing to do particularly with F1. A couple of weeks ago, just for teh lulz, I decided to go on an update spree and start every unplayed PS3 game I have (which must be like fifteen right now, so many temptations and so little time) just to see how many of them required installation/patching. I decided to make a game of it and try and guess which games would require to download a patch and which wouldn’t. It turned out to be an easy guess: every game by a western developer had a patch waiting for me, including titles like Ratchet and Clank: A crack in time, which is not the type of game you would expect to need a patch after release. Not a single japanese game required a patch.

The results would have been slightly different had I waited until today, as apparently 3D Dot Game Heroes does have a patch available now, but still. And of course, they are related to the type of games I buy. I’m strictly single-player, so it’s only circumstantial if some of the games I buy have a multiplayer component in them (which usually is more prone to require updates).

Of course you can read this both ways: western developers care to support games post-launch way more than japanese ones… or simply japanese games ship in a more polished state and don’t need to be patched. I’m totally on the fence on this, but still found the results of my little experiment to be thought provoking.

    • Yes I have noticed it was mostly Japanese games that didn’ need a patch but they where either Rpgs or just single playeer games

    • A lot of patches include things like dlc. Not all of them are for bugs. Littlebigplanet has loads of updates because the dlc u pay for just unlocks them.

  7. on a side note, the ps+ pactching is that just for the console or for games also?

    • I think it’s for games too.

  8. sorry scuse spelling patching was what i meant

  9. I hope they also add in analogue button presses when using X and Square for throttle and braking. My engine gets revved way too much… Also in free practice/qualifying the other cars on their outlap tend to race you sticking right to your arse.. In reality they would drop back to give themselves room…

    • I have a few niggles similar to that. For instance I can be going hell for leather down the pit straight to start a hot lap and a car has come out of the pits to start a warm up lap. Do they move out of the way? Do they heck as like. 5 place grid drop in reality, which I did get for spinning off the circuit, reversing and rejoining…WTF!
Also Schumacher’s a cunt,..I mean a bitch pass. Have Codies deliberately made him hard to pass or was I just shit when it came to it?
I understand now what Brundle and Legard mean when they go on about coming up behind the German Rain Meister!!

  10. It’s a great game, but the amount of bugs seems like they barely tested it which is a shame.
