Beyond Good & Evil HD Coming

Cult classic and one of the last-gen’s finest – if tad overlooked – games, Ubisoft have announced that a HD sprucing of Beyond Good & Evil is in the works. The game will be available on both PSN and Xbox LIVE.

Despite less than stellar sales, Beyond Good & Evil was recognised by critics as a solid, bold adventure game and, perhaps somewhat unexpectedly, made a lot of sites’ top 10 lists for the year.

Players take on the role of Jade, a headstrong and resourceful reporter who works with a resistance movement to unearth an alien conspiracy that threatens her planet. The updated version will be the same game released in 2003 with 1080 visuals, updated models and textures along with the standard Trophy/Achievement mandate. The game’s score will also be remastered.

Fantastic news for those who gravitate toward compelling gameplay and a polished narrative. Expect the refurbished title next year. The much discussed and oft-rumoured cancelled sequel is still in development.

  1. the original ps2 version supports progressive displays, it’s only like 480p i think but it still looks pretty decent.

  2. Never really played this properly though heard very good things about it on original release. May well ‘pick up’ a digital copy. Always nice to see these things given the chance of a second lease of life.
