In case you weren’t aware, PlayStation turned 15 in Europe this week and Official PlayStation Magazine is also releasing its 50th issue. To celebrate both events they have published the results of a survey of its readers to decide the greatest ever PlayStation game. The poll saw “thousands of votes cast” but in the end Naughty Dog’s Uncharted 2: Among Thieves came out on top. Special mention should go to Metal Gear Solid which manages to fill 3 places in the top 10.

The full 50 is in the latest issue of Official PlayStation Magazine. I imagine many of you will probably have different favourites so share your top 10s below. Personally I’m disappointed by the lack of Crash Bandicoot and Timesplitters.

Uncharted 2 at number 1? Videogames are dead to me. ;)
Nevertheless, while I think it’s a load of old knackers (actually, I thought it was ok … ish), this type of list always generates some healthy debate and opinion.
For the record I’d only keep 4 games in the top 10 which are already there. (SotC, MGS, MGS3 and FFVII)

Uncharted 2 has no peer right now when it comes to third person actioners, so it isn’t a surprise to see it riding so high. Probably doesn’t deserve to be number 1(Shadow of the Colossus is more deserving in my opinion), but there’s no denying the impact and success it’s had. Now, if this had been voting for best game this gen or something… then MAYBE… but it’d be fighting Mario Galaxy 2 for the top spot.

I’d have liked Ratchet and Clank 3 or God of War 2 to possibly see the top 10.

I woulda thought it would be Playstation only games, but maybe that’s just me. How Crash Bandicoot 1, 2 and 3 are not in the top ten when Call of Duty 4 and Resident Evil 4 are, I’ll never know, but whatever. Quite suprised Uncharted got number 1, but then again, it is an incredbile experience.
