Mario’s 25th Anniversary Boxset Coming To The UK

Nintendo has announced that a special Mario 25th Anniversary boxset will be heading to the UK on December 3rd for the Wii – well that’s my Christmas present sorted then!  It has also been listed on Nintendo’s Swedish website – so hopefully the rest of Europe will be getting it too.

The boxset will include the Super Mario All Stars game, a 25 years of Mario history booklet – featuring unseen artwork and development materials – and a soundtrack CD featuring classic Mario themes from the past 25 years.

For those of you who aren’t aware, Super Mario All Stars is a compilation featuring some of Mario’s finest moments – Super Mario Bros., Super Mario Bros. 2, Super Mario Bros. 3, and Super Mario Bros: The Lost Levels.

  1. Top of the xmas list!!! (if its a reasonable price…)

  2. If only i had a Wii :|

  3. If I didnt already have these on my original Xbox I would definately pick this boxset up :)

    • Did you mean ‘xbox’. Sounds a bit iffy to me? Even though I’ve got these games on GBA and can play them on my DS Lite I’m still VERY tempted depending upon the overall cost of the package.

      • Haha yeah I did mean Xbox. I bought one from a car boot once and it turned out to be a modded one filled to the brim with NES, SNES and Mega drive games :D

  4. Waste of money really, When theirs so many good new games coming out.

    • True but, and this isn’t a Wii bashing honest, most of the decent upcoming games are on other platforms. If I only owned a Wii I would pick this up day of release and I’m sure others will too :)

      • I’d be inclined to disagree – the Wii has Epic Mickey, Kirby, Donkey Kong, GoldenEye, this All Stars Package, Sonic Colours all between now and December. Plenty to keep one busy! :op

      • Ok, smarty pants :P My point still stands that this boxset will be at the top of most Wii owner’s lists though.

      • True – had my eye on the import version for about a month now with my fingers firmly crossed it would be released here.

      • Actually this seems like a perfectly good time to ask the question, is the Wii region free? I’ve always wondered and never thought to ask.

      • Nope – it did have a ‘freeloader’ disk which enabled you to play import games, but it was blocked by a firmware update…just as I had paid to import smash brothers brawl :op

      • Very ouch! Was just wondering, ta :)

      • Yeah, I had the same issue with freeloader. About a month after purchasing it and SSB:Brawl they blocked it. *sob*

    • I’d probably download them…. instead

      • I don’t own a wii but I was under the impression that all of these games could be downloaded from the wii store. I suppose this would be good for a collector.

      • Yup, you can download NES games for 500 points, the other platforms seem to vary

    • Its just I’ve played these games enough.

  5. Is super mario world not on there like it was for the snes?

    • my thoughts exactly.

that was my favourite on the cartridge.

  6. Already got Mario Allstars on my SNES, I think that’ll be enough thanks.

  7. It would be awesome if it included every Mario game from the NES to N64 era maybe gamecube?

    • Now that really would interest me, pity it’s just a 15 year old collection instead.

  8. For my 25th wedding anniversary I am going to eat at McDonalds and go for a swim in the Thames.
God damn you are all fucking retarded. No wonder Nintendo is so rich with zero quality now when they can just rerelease an inferior version of an old SNES game and you all pay top dollar for it as if there has been no technical advances at all with games or storage since 1997. You are the same people that will complain that this gen is no good.
