TimeSplitters 4 Concept Art Surfaces

Crytek might have scooped up the rights to Future Perfect, but it’s probably fair to say that the TimeSplitters series is currently deeper in limbo than that perpetually wandering monochromatic chap in, er, LIMBO.  Or thereabouts.

Ever since Free Radical went under the future of the first person shooter series, which has a vocal, loyal fanbase, has been uncertain, with the much anticipated TimeSplitters 4 being occasionally attached to the Wii but still unseen to the public eye.

Until yesterday, when one of the illustrators originally involved with the project blogged about his work on the game, detailing some of the concept art he produced “2-3 years ago”.

We won’t spoil his thunder by dumping the entire lot, so here’s a select smattering and we suggest if you’re interested in how TimeSplitters 4 could have looked you hop over to his blog and check out the rest.

It’s a tragedy we’re not already playing this game.

  1. Timesplitters on every outing was just bliss. Such an original game and in many respects one of the PS2’s finest outings…..

Awesome isnt the word, I mean the multiplayer was insane, the campaign was well thought out and fun…

    A shame, a real shame.

  2. The concepts show the same humour as the previous games, now i want a game with a trojan siren and vampire brides in it!
TS2 was one of my all time favourite FPS, sad we may never see another game.

  3. For some reason i just never enjoyed timesplitters, don’t know why but i just never got on with it. Doesn’t really bother me that this didn’t end up coming about, there’s plenty of good games deserving of my money.

  4. Another TS would be awesome, such a sad time for gaming if they never release anymore

  5. Free Radical are working on the Crysis 2 multiplayer now, so it’ll be interesting to see how that ends up.

  6. Was just playing TS2 the other night – still plays great

  7. Timesplitters Serie has given me by far the most fun on the PS2, I think…
Great games, good humor and gameplay was top notch.

  8. Another one for a hd makeover?

  9. After playing it recently it really did feel awful. Halcyon days are best left in the past with most games. This, sadly, was one of them.
