News just in: Gran Turismo 5’s release date been pushed back to the “Holiday Season” – or Christmas Time to you and me, according to the US PlayStation Blog.
Now it’s not been said whether this applies to all regions, but from the quote below it seems more than likely.
We can confirm that Gran Turismo 5 will not be available this November 2nd, but the game’s release will be coming this holiday season.
We sincerely apologize to GT fans for the delay, however, creator Kazunori Yamauchi and the team at Polyphony Digital want to make certain they are creating the perfect racing experience, and we are confident that this ambitious game will exceed expectations when it launches.

Update: the Japanese version is delayed too. We’re expecting news of a corresponding EU delay shortly.
Update 2: SCEE has confirmed that the European date is delayed too, with no new date yet for our local version. Expect a press release soon.
Update 3: SCEE’s told TheSixthAxis that the game will still be released “before Christmas” and apologise for the delay, echoing the US statement.

my blood is boiling about this….i think that sony are doing a lot of harm with this recent slip. although ive recently been playing forza3 quite a bit only to realise that in the world of forza motorsport….it never rains or snows….it just seems to be sunny all the time……come on sony…please release gt5 now! forza3’s not filling the gap. just dont release it anywhere near the release date for nfs-hot pursuit or assasins creed brotherhood cos i can’t afford all three.

I had a bad vision this morning that it would be delayed! I just hope this isn’t a sick joke or something. But looking into it a bit more I think it was never planned to be released 3/5 November. Who ever heard of one guy being able to hold off the release of a game before, I know Kaz has some ompf, but normally the devs get pushed to release their games when their told, not the other way round. And as my previous post said, I just can’t believe that 3 weeks before release they hadn’t allready burnt off a sh*t load of blue ray disks allready and then postpone the release!

I’m tempted to think the game’s already pressed up and ready, sat in a warehouse (someone else just suggested this to me too) and something fairly crazy was either spotted or changed at the very last minute.
I’m guessing we’ll never know, though.

I think we deserve, at the minimum, a full explanation to the cause of the delay! But I agree there’s no way they wouldn’t have got this close the launch date without pressing the disks!

Especially with the kind of numbers this game is going to shift. The optimist in me thinks they spotted some major issue they needed to fix that couldn’t just be patched cos it’s game breaking but the cynic/realist thinks they are just hyping it up and pushing for the Christmas sales

Maybe they went to press the discs and discovered it wouldn’t fit on a single Blu-ray, so Kaz now has the impossible task (for him) of removing a feature! :)

Maybe Sony are going to TDK to see if they can get some of their 100GB Blu-ray Discs for the game seeing as it won’t fit on a 50GB, and so Sony now needs time to QA the discs with the PS3 and issue a firmware update.
It is highly doubtful that this is the case though.
