New GoldenEye Trailer Out

Activision are really going all out to prove their new GoldenEye game won’t just be a lazy botched job of the original.  Particular love seems to have been shown to the game’s multiplayer mode, which will come with a wealth of options.  We managed to get a peak of it up and running at the Eurogamer Expo and it certainly looked to capture the fun of old school four player deathmatch.

The latest trailer shows the return of some familiar faces.  We’ve been expecting you…

  1. this looks worse than the original. definitely not touching this.

    • I think your rose-tinted specs might be blurring your vision. :)

  2. I have to be honest this just made my appetite for the game even worse.
Im just thinking the world has moved on, games have moved on and more importantly gamers have moved on. Goldeneye was absolutely world class for its time, and “for it’s time” it should stay.
The major problem now is online gaming. Back when Goldeneye was king, the infrastructure of the internet wasn’t good enough to support solid online gaming in the average house so in order to be have that competitiveness you had your mates round to kick their sully asses. That was a golden(eye) generation that I will always love, however those of us who did love that generation have grown up, we run households and have children. We dont have the flexibility or just the option to sit with 6 mates over your house after school or college playing games for hours at a time.
Then the current generation of young gamers who do have that time to game for hours are firstly too young to have enjoyed Goldeneye fully, and secondly they have been spoiled with some fantastic competitive gaming available online at any time they want for as long as they want. I have been spoiled too, I wouldn’t deny that.
Anyway, my point is Activision should just “Let Sleeping Dogs Lie”

    • I agree with you, but I think this is a game made “for old times sake”. We’ll buy it, and recapture that golden(eye) era and enjoy it as much as the original. It might not be amazing, but I’m sure lots of the people who loved the original will go to the trouble of getting mates around and playing split-screen. I know I will.

  3. I never played this, but have heard great things for years and years. And years. And then some.
I not doubting that it was a great game, but like BrendanCalls said, “for it’s time” it should stay – atleast if they haven’t totally remade it with new textures and animation.

  4. Pretty sure Dr No had two false hands and not one.

  5. it doesn’t look THAT bad does it?
i mean sure the games these day look much better…
but that shouldn’t ruin good gameplay :/
Goldeneye was fun… but sadly i also think it was because it was good for its time…
i liked perfect dark better anyway xP
    aaah perfect dark <3

  6. Why is Daniel Craig Bond? Goldeneye was Pierce Brosnan and this is Goldeneye!
I think Goldeneye should stay as a great memory or be replayed only in original form on the N64

    • Having to use the current Bond actor is a condition of the license. Unfortunately.

Until I can find a replacement N64 this remake is my only way of being able to play GoldenEye again, so I’m trying to remain cautiously optimistic…

      • Didn’t know that about the license. That’s kinda silly really

  7. i’d like to buy it for a nostalgic trip in to my gaming past, but with MoH and CoD:BO and my first born coming soon too i doubt i’ll have time/energy/money to!

  8. Hope it has ‘paint ball mode’ :)
