The words Gyakuten Saiban in a game title might not mean to much to you, but that’s the Ace Attorney himself, Phoenix Wright. Star of some of the best games on the DS, it looks like his usuals hosts Capcom are working with Level-5 on bringing a mashup between the charismatic lawyer and – yes – Professor Layton.
If you’re not yet mopping your brains up off the wall, you should be. The game is being described as a “combination of puzzles and crime mystery” and will be coming out on the 3DS, with Eurogamer claiming Level-5’s president Akihiro Hino described the crossover as like “two TV shows getting together and making a movie”.
Movie, you say?
If the Nintendo 3DS wasn’t a must have before, it now is. Buy one.

Er, that actually sounds like a pretty terrible idea for a game to me. Plus, y’know, so much for Trials and Tribulations being the last ever Phoenix Wright game, eh Capcom? I never could make it through Apollo Justice, the constant walls of text on static images got the better of me there. Hopefully they’ll at least think to use animation and voice acting in the actual game this time, and not just the trailer.
Also, Layton games suck.
