Jeep have announced a tie in “Black Ops” model for those who – if the PR guff is to be believed – would like to experience Black Ops offline. As the world’s most expensive game tie-in, the limited edition 2011 Jeep Wrangler ‘Call of Duty: Black Ops Edition’ is fitted with ‘aggressive 32-inch tyres and unique military style and Call of Duty graphics.”

If you have cash to splash you can spend $30,625 for a two-door model or $33,500 for a four-door version. Treyarch studio head Mark Lamia said:
“Our work with the Jeep team focused around using the Jeep Wrangler in our levels, and gameplay experiences, and translating the style and look of the vehicle in Black Ops to the Jeep on the showroom floor that our fans can own.
“It was important for us to make sure that the Jeep partnership would be authentic and enhance the setting we immerse our fans in with Black Ops.”
How does driving down to Tescos to pick up some bin liners ‘enhance the setting’ of a video game? Will the Vietcong be popping out from behind a bus stop? An unexpected helicopter attack whilst waiting at the traffic lights perhaps?
The game is set in the 60’s and 70’s so how does a 2011 Jeep fit in? A cynic might say this is just rather weak cash-in and it’s just a Jeep with a Black Ops sticker on it.
It’s a Jeep with a Black Ops sticker on it.

This is rediculous.

It sure is rIdiculous.

I like video games, I like cars. Together (aside from a TV and a console inside) they DO NOT mix. Who the hell would buy that?
Tuffcub
I thought that was going to continue with “But which is better.. there’s only one way to find out…”

Sounds beefy enough for it’s own article? Maybe a lunchtime discussion. But damn I could never choose between the two. And when I said I like cars and video games, I really meant love.
After getting KZ2β, LBP2β, Netflix and with Black Ops and GT5 coming up, I’m loving my PS3 more than ever. (Both of my PS3s YLOD’d…) And I’ve spent the last three days using the hell out of it, as a matter of fact I’m currently in the US and it’s 6:25am and that means I haven’t gone to sleep yet because I’ve been watching Prison Break (I’m hooked) on Netflix and playing the KZ2β (It’s fantastic! All I can say… Sorry!).
But then again I just got a red ’00 Audi S4 (Stage I) with some beautiful 18″ wheels, an amazing system, a Pioneer AVIC-F90BT deck (DVD, iPod, Sattelite Radio, HD Radio, GPS, etc.) with 300hp to the wheels. Here’s a picture: http://i14.photobucket.com/albums/a305/ajdj74/2000%20S4/DSC_0245_BW.jpg
As you can see by my knowledge and experience about both subjects, I have an undying love for each and if it ever came to choose between the two I would just… explode.
But, if my car had Call of Duty: Black Ops or even PlayStation 3 on it, I doubt I would have bought it.
P.S. I LOVE TSA as well!

^ TL;DR ;)

This is pretty much the weirdest tie in I’ve ever seen. Well, this and that rubber dingy thing for Kinnect. Who actually thinks they would look cool in this though? Seriously?
wick15
What a waste of money. It will be more expensive than the regular Wrangler just because of some sticker. The people that buys one of those Jeeps is a massive idiot.
wick15
I’ll correct my last sentence as it annoys me.
*The people that buy those Jeeps are going too look like idiots.
Spotter5
I’m going to buy two.

First day buy for me ;)

Nissan made a Gran Turismo edition of the 350Z at the timne of GT4 I believe. That seems a more sensible tie in though to be honest.
Winkle
Does it come with the game?

Going into a dealership and asking to see the ‘Black Ops Jeep’ would be a tad bit embarrassing methinks.
