Assassin’s Creed II was one of the stand out games of 2009 and featured heavily in our 2009 game of the year voting. It’s disappointing to see that less that half of those that played the game actually made it to the end.
Assassin’s Creed: Brotherhood mission director, Gaelec Simard, told Joystiq that only 40% had finished the game, which he believed was “huge”. The figure is 5% higher than the original Assassin’s Creed figure which was based on Xbox Achievements. The Assassin’s Creed II numbers are based of information obtained via Ubisoft’s Uplay service which provides figures on all platforms. Like Achievements users need to be connected to the internet in order for Ubisoft to record the statistics.
40% may seem a low figure but statistics obtained Gamasutra last year suggested less than 30% completed GTA IV. Assassins Creed II still fell a fair way short of the likes of Gears of War 1 & 2, Halo 3 and Call of Duty 4 which all saw more than 60% complete their campaigns.
Simard added “In the industry, the number of games that are finished is more like five to ten percent. We all think people finish games, but when you start asking around, you’ll find that a lot of people don’t get to the end. We want the player to experience the whole package, so that’s something we’re trying to push.” What that means for Assassin’s Creed: Brotherhood isn’t quite clear yet.

I finished AC2, **waves arms frantically at the back of the room** although it was over a period of months dipping in and out of it. Excellent game – really enjoyed it.
It tempted me to maybe visit the first outing of the ‘creedage’

Almost ashamed to admit it as I wish I’d taken longer to soak everything in – but I beasted ACII over 3 days and completed it :P
Came back plenty times afterward though, that Renaissance atmosphere is just breathtaking.
Liberi Fatali
I never completed the first but the second to me was amazing because of the setting which had kept me interested

Oh, god. Now they have another excuse to make six-hour-long games with tacked-on, innecesary multiplayer.

Strange, I enjoyed ACII to the point I platniumed it.

Ditto – and to date this is the only platinum I have – It was an awesome game

My friend is one of those 40% :)

Only got it 3 weeks ago, but hoping to finish it this weekend. On the last sequence.

It’s a balance of a compelling story and the games length. If it is compelling but very long and/or difficult, people may not finish. I suspect this is the case with AC2 as it was a fairly long, though interesting, story.
For me Uncharted 2 was the perfect balance and the replayability was immense thanks to being able to choose chapters and mess about with the fun cheats.

Hmmm….. I love Assassin Creed completed the 1st but couldn’t be arse with the flags collection. Completed Assassin’s Creed 2 and got a Platinum although the feathers weren’t that hard :P but the glyphs and hidden tombs were. I think I might check my trophy on the 1st time/day I collected on AC2 and the date on Platinum for last, just to say the gap of the timing and dates. I’m pretty sure I did it like at least a week o_0 (I think)

This all came about because developers are increasing trying to justify there £40 tag. AC2 was £40 well spent IMO.

I got tired of AS1 very quickly, within a few hours. AS2 held my interest for much longer due to improved gameplay and also i had learned about the Medicis during my schoolday history classes so i enjoyed all the background info in the game.
I didn’t have any interest in the town management aspect and as soon as that was introduced i knew i would never complete it. After a while the game feels repetitive and when a game get’s like that it’s easy to be distracted by another game.
