Earlier on today we’ve seen Kinect make some pretty huge public appearances in the US, followed up by news on the first published ‘review’ for the system, now thanks to GAME we have the first unboxing of a Kinect retail unit. For those of us who haven’t seen an actual Kinect unit yet, seeing it held in someone’s hands reveals just how big it is.
We’ve already heard how Microsoft have an incredible $500m in their war-chest set aside for promoting Kinect but as any retailer’s CEO will tell you, you can spend all the money you want on advertising but if the sales force doesn’t know what they’re talking about, the product won’t sell. Fortunately for GAME, on this evidence they are very clued up on every single aspect of Kinect, the chap in the video below could give a masterclass in explaining things simply and clearly to even the eldest of grandparents this Christmas.

Reading from some cue cards makes it look (and sound) so forced. He’s using language that doesn’t come naturally to him. He’s doing his best to look excited about it all but this is just one more video in a long line of PR videos where we don’t see people actually using the damned thing. Argh!!!

Also, It is huge! Twice as big as I thought it would be. I wonder what it looks like on the inside, lots of empty space maybe? As in, they made it big so as too look like you get more for your money…

No thanks. Somehow sitting in my house in a rubber dingy pretending I’m sailing doesn’t really appeal to me. Neither does playing a racing gaming pretending I’m holding a steering wheel.
GT5 and a decent steering wheel and pedals for me!

I think the funniest thing about kit was at e3 when it was project natal… And matey come out with
“have you ever wondered what the bottom of an avatars foot looks like?”
And then the ps move demo. Proper 1 to 1 and they had that tech demo off literally going into the screen and messing with stuff…..if you sqw it you no what I mean.
