Rumour: Elder Scrolls V On The Way

It’s fair to say that The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion provided the first “oh my goodness!” moment of the current generation of consoles.  Having slummed through darkness for what seemed like an eternity, the player emerged into a simply huge and beautifully crafted world, which stretched as far as the eye could see.

Eurogamer Denmark has reported that a source has confirmed a direct sequel to Oblivion is indeed in the works:

“This source not only confirmed that the game is in current production, but also spoke briefly about the content – with fantasy-sounding phrases like Dragon Lord, something with The Blades – and that voice acting for the characters in the game is currently happening in the weeks to follow.

The same source confirmed, with official game documents in hand, that this will be the chronological sequel to what happened in The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion, which is the latest game in the now 16-years-old Elder Scrolls saga and by itself one of the better RPGs for PC and consoles.

The sequel to Oblivion is coming, we can hereby confirm without hesitation. It’s been a while since 2006, hasn’t it?”

We agree, it has been a long time since the last one.  Is it time to dust off the old horse armour?

  1. What a heck of a rumor to start my day. Thanks TSA!

    • Ps: I have to admit I’m still playing Oblivion on my pc. Heavily modded.

  2. oh my god, been waiting for this for ages! I only borrowed that last one from my mate, played it for hours :D It was so good.

  3. It’s true, see as most rumours that are reported on here are true.
I think that TES5 will use a different engine.
I playing TESOBLIVION at the moment and i am addicted to it.So i would buy TES5.

  4. Bought oblivion a week ago for £8.99 amazon with all the dlc. What amazing value!

    • Got mine for about £10 6 months ago and haven’t got round to playing it in fear of it taking over my life.

      • Ive had it since the GOTY version came out and still havent got round to playing it.

  5. New engine for a new TES game is the usual tbf. We’ve been hearing strong rumours for months, most about Skyrim so I’d expect a colder, more snowy world this time around.

    • I’d love it if that was true. I couldn’t get enough of the snowy town (I forgot the name) with it’s houses built partially underground.

    • FROZEN!!!

Would be a interesting world to travel in

  6. I think I jizzed a little… My favourite gaming moment is stepping out of the sewers in Oblivion. Although if this is an MMO I will cry haha

  7. mrs will be pleased!

  8. SKIBADEE told me about this last night and YES I loved Oblivion sunk many hours on that game.

  9. OMG this is my most anticipated game for years now, love Oblivion my old fat PS3 YLOD’d so gives me a good excuse to start all over again and clock another 100+ hours on it. Can’t wait to hear more news! So excited.

  10. and it would be with Trophies, which makes it alot longer to play to gets those … this will take around 5 years to complete :P

    • Oh wow, if ever there was a game that didn’t require trophies (or at least tucks them out of the way so you can view them only when you’re at a save point), it’s this.

I loved Oblivion but on the PC. The mod community made it into something far more playable with the levelling for NPCs being sorted out. That was a deal-breaker when it came to me picking it up on the consoles…. I believe. :-)
