Bethesda has dropped us a line confirming that old-school Quake Arena Arcade will be available to download from Xbox LIVE Arcade on December 15th.
Quake Arena Arcade offers 16 player frag-fests with staple modes such as ‘Deathmatch’, ‘Capture the Flag’, and ‘Harvester’. The game will deliver thirty classic maps and twelve Xbox-exclusive arenas. This all in glorious HD along with widescreen support and a whole new Single Player campaign.
No news on pricing at this time. We’ll update this article when we hear.

Any sign of a PS3 version?

Used to play it a lot on pc and would surely have a lot of fun playing it again. Can’t imagine playing it without mouse+keyboard though…

And why couldn’t they make it free like Quake Live?
Maybe Sony will let them do it for free? I’ve spent so much time playing Q3 over the years, I even made sure to complete Revolution for PS2 on Nightmare difficulty, but it’s a little too hardcore for me to play online now.
Maybe the hindrance of a controller will make for an even playing field.
