Evolution Studios Details Motorstorm Apocalypse

Evolution Studios has gone into some more detail regarding its upcoming racer, Motorstorm Apocalypse. Whilst a date hasn’t been nailed down, we can expect to be playing it come spring 2011.  A demo will appear on PSN although with a much vaguer timeframe of ‘2011’ – we hope it arrives before the game does! To get us hyped up a set of developer diaries will be released over the course of the next few weeks.

PlayStation Plus subscribers can expect some exclusive goodies, and there will also be the usual raft of PSN avatars, dynamic themes, and pre-order incentives.

A “sophisticated” photo mode is being included, which will allow players to capture hi-res gameplay images.  Tools will also be included to add post-effects.

Some insanely flamboyant gestures have been included to taunt your opponents with.  These are set to trump the taunts found in previous versions of Motostorm.

Evolution has “big ambitions” when it comes to DLC, so the game will be supported well after its release.  The most intriguing sounding DLC is the “special island track” that they are hoping to be able to give away for free.

Last, but by no means least, is the new ‘Skyline’ trailer which looks insane.  Enjoy!

  1. If the game is so long off yet, why are they planning free Dlc? Why not just include it on the disc? Odd. Still i enjoyed pr for a while, so hoping this will be good. Looks good from the trailers and things i’ve seen.

    • its a marketing ploy

    • Give it extra life? its not as if they will charge for offical re-coloured costumes

    • DLC makes money, and demonstrates post-release support, which fans like to see. So they plan for DLC, or as they’re going, and have to cut ideas, they shelve tracks and content they can’t polish in time, and then return to it after release for DLC.. It doesn’t have to be anything nefarious.

Really looking forward to this game.. :)

      • Evolution Studios are one of the best for DLC. The last Motorstorm games DLC was great.

    • maybe the DLC doesnt have anything to do with the actual game… and if they include it to the real game u’ll maybe wondering why its there because it doesnt have anything to do with the Apocalypse story…

  2. Not given a Motorstorm a chance yet, however I am getting this one, no doubt. Thinking of trying M2 out…

Although I dont have time what with the Almighty GT5 and the EPIC Hot Pursuit!!

  3. Looking really good, Im gonna have to stick this on my wish list.. I think they’ve been taking some inspiration from Split Second tho, which isnt a bad thing, I guess.

They said that about Pacific Rift but there wasn’t much apart from a few weekends and some liveries? The first Motorstorm was very well supported, I still love these games very much so might actually pre-order the 3rd.

  5. Loved Motorstorm, really loved it, but felt there was something indescribably broken about Motorstorm Pacific Rift, so not sure how I feel about this yet – will be looking out for a demo and looking at reviews in depth probably, especially if there’s a Split/Second 2

  6. ive really enjoyed both motorstorms to date but ive never managed to complete them due to the difficulty of the last few events. But the graphics and environment are great and this will be a day one buy no doubt

  7. Played Pacific Rift and although i enjoyed it the game had a habit of making me so frustrated. Hopefully the demo will be out before the game and i can decide from that whether or not to pick it up.
