For many, the name ‘Kid Icarus’ will bring a knowing little smile. A Nintendo franchise from way back when, you control ‘Pit’ in what was likened to a mash-up of Mario, Zelda, and Metroid. Two new gameplay videos have emerged from Nintendo World 2011 for the 3DS title ‘Kid Icarus: Uprising’. One shows the basics of movement and combat (before chucking in a gargantuan, scythe wielding boss), whilst the other shows Pit in flight.

Really need to see some 3ds games in person. So far the graphics are confusing – some look great -> this looks a little jaggedy.

the combat controls look really clunky, why didn’t they add a second analog control?
and seriously, why do people see these controls scheme like the wii and ds have and think, on rails shooter?

The second the flight video loaded I thought this looks like Space Harrier, then I heard what distinctly sounded like a Space Harrier in Japanese! It looks okay, I loved the bickering dragon heads at the end. The world looks a little drab judging from the first video though. I wasn’t as wowed as I expected to be.
